I'm normally not the type to get worked up, because people don't always think before they act, I know that. But this morning...coming down the road at the 50 mph limit, my headlights on, no one behind me, and FOUR times, someone backed out/pulled out directly in front of me! And it's not that they didn't see me...I distinctly saw them pull up to the edge of their road/driveway, stop, look, start out, stop again, then pull out right before I got to them. Now I know my brakes work :sad2:

I should probably just go home anyway...since the printer isn't working and I can't seem to transfer files on my computer anyway. This is starting out to be a very bad day.

Remember your day really could be much worse. Spin it this way - printer and PC arent working right so now you can surf the dis. Consider the drive in this morning as training for your life on the NASCAR circuit.

It could be far, far, worse. There was an incident here yesterday where the same thing happened, but the truck driver's brakes weren't as good as yours, and one teenager is in critical condition. (They were carpooling to HS)

That really irritates me. I don't understand why some people drive like no one else exists except for them. That's when I wished I drove a tank.

It's even more general than that -- some people go through life as if no one else exists except for them (or except to amuse or serve them). Entitlement mentality. :sad2:

I was driving in downtown Minneapolis yesterday morning, 8:30, still really busy with rush hour/get to work traffic. You wouldn't believe the number of people that were crossing the street against the light, pedestrians, not cars. There are so many signs, marquees, etc. that the traffic lights are hard enough to see as it is and then you have to concentrate on people crossing the road on a red light. It's a wonder more of them are not killed every day. A lot of them were crossing in the middle of a block but most were at the intersections just crossing whenever they felt like it. Sorry, your life is worth more then the 3 extra seconds you have to wait for a green light.

On the way home from taking my daughter to school, I got in a long line of traffic. It's a narrow two lane area with another lane trying to turn left against the traffic, and a "feeder" street from the adjoining neighborhood trying to feed into the two lane traffic. Also, it was raining steadily. In short, a mess.

I stopped to let a car turn into the neighborhood - this is done routinely every morning. I could see that my stopping wouldn't affect the speed with which I (or the car behind me) would get through the stoplight a block away, but I guess Mr. "I'm So Important" behind me couldn't, because he laid on the horn and followed me VERY closely up to the stoplight.

I took great pleasure in the fact that we both had to stop for another cycle of lights, and he was even later because of it.

I hate people who drive like that...

You made a mistake and drove your invisible car to work. Happens to me all the time. It's usually morons pulling out of side streets while I'm doing the speed limit down the main road. I chalk it up to the invisible car because I like to believe people aren't that blind.

This is great. Invisible car :rotfl2:

This aggravates me beyond belief!! They would only have to wait a few more seconds for me to pass, but no ...... they must pull out in front of me! Driving is a lot more stressful when it has to be so defensive because of all the crap others are doing on the roads. :sad2:

BTDT. I once had some idiot honking at me cause I wouldn't run over a bunch of people walking in the ped. zone with the light. Dumb stupid idiot. I waited until the light turned green.

I have a sign on my car it reads " Please cut me off" at least I think I must because that is what people do all the time.

Kind of like the "kick me" sign from Jr High.... not that I ever did that to anyone....

That person wasnt an idiot. You can see invisible people while that person couldnt. They just need to go to their optometrist (sp?) and get the invisible exam.

Monday we were at my Grandma's funeral and were in the processional to the cemetary and were almost creamed by not 1 but 2 cars. We were crossing a semi busy intersection. The patrol car was approx 10 cars ahead of us. We were crossing the intersection when some bozo on the left about hit us only to turn proceed 10 feet to have some idiot on the right almost nail us. Granted I think the police in this case should have had someone blocking the intersection, but it's unbelievable how in a hurry people are they can't stop to let a funeral processional go by.

I'm sure this doesn't apply to your situation, but my driving peeve is the opposite. I am almost daily faced with having to pull out onto a very busy road where it is impossible not to pull out in front of someone. Like, if I were to wait for nothing to be coming, I'd still be there an hour later. Not kidding. So basically you just have to wait for a reasonable opening, at best, and just go for it. Inevitably, some idiot flies up on your rear as if they are blind and don't have any brakes. Rides your rear, honks the horn, whatever. I'm like "yea I get it buddy, you're mad."

We need a light, to say the least. But meantime, come on...what are we supposed to do? We have to pull out eventually. And as long as our cars don't have autofreakingpilot, everyone is just gonna have to watch out for everyone else. How do these people walk down the mall? Someone steps out of a store in front of them, do they lose their minds?

That was a rant, wasn't it, sorry.

Oh and OP...I realize this doesn't apply to your situation. I'll bet they pulled right out in front of you, making you slam on your brakes...that sure is different. Just wanted to say that so you know my rant doesn't apply to you :thumbsup2

I can deal with people pulling out in front of me (around here I always assume they will and am pleasantly surprised when they don't)

-but-

What gets me are the parents dropping their kids off at school who pull up to the front of the line, kiss little Johnny or Suzy goodbye, and then start to drive off not watching the road (either they're still watching their kid or chatting on their cell phone) and come to within INCHES of running over a child crossing the crosswalk which runs right across the front of the drop-off area just because they couldn't be bothered to LOOK 45 degrees to their left (the direction they're turning)!

I see it happen EVERY morning.
:furious:

That is one of my biggest pet peeves, so I sure do know how you feel.

And even worse, when nobody is beind me yet they pull out anyway, making me hit the brakes or have to slow down and then they proceed to TURN onto another road less than a quarter mile away!!! :furious: They just couldn't wait the two extra seconds it would have taken for me to pass by them BEFORE they pulled out. It's so aggravating!!

I hate this!!! I swear, Boston is the jaywalking capitol of the United States. There's a crosswalk I have to pass going to work accross from a subway station. People stream out of that station and cross against the light in herds. I have had to sit through two green lights before I could pass. YOu almost have to nudge people to get through.

People drag toddlers accross the street when they jaywalk here. I regularly see people running accross the middle of the street PUSHING STROLLERS.
