What on Earth is going on April 24, 2018?

At least one (maybe 2?) crowd calendars I checked showed this date with a sudden noticable surge in predicted park attendance, and now I see from Disney's own rates that the room I was looking at goes up by $200 a night on this day. It's a Tuesday, and on Wednesday the rates go right back down again. Is there a special event going on this day? I can't seem to find anything.

Edited to add: It gets weirder. If I click on "rate details" the room rate does not change for any day that entire week. But if I click on "rate calendar" then it shows the rate jump for Friday, Tuesday, and Saturday nights. So which is it?

Looks like the week leading up to that is the Star Wars dark side half marathon weekend so maybe they're keeping their prices inflated to hit that crowd up.

Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend is April 20-22, 2018. But I would necessarily think that would impact the 24th....

Yeah, the spring break rates end a few weeks before so it's not that...and besides why Tuesday and no other day? I'm aware of the Star Wars marathon, but that is only supposed to be over Sat-Sun. Toy Story Land opening? That's a possibility...I was kind of hoping we'd avoid that since if it's anything like Pandora I don't want to deal with the lines and crowds!

I checked a few other room categories and they don't all show that price jump for Tuesday. I don't know if it's a site glitch or they haven't updated everything or what.

This is quite a mystery!

What room were you looking at? I'm planning on going that week and that's so strange...doesn't look like POFQ has the rate jump for that one night.

I was looking at a value studio in Jambo House at AKL. I called Disney last night to see if they could tell me anything. Guy I talked to had no idea and transferred me to Guest Relations, where I was informed I'd have a 60 minute wait! I said, "heck with that," hung up and called back to just book the room. In the end, it doesn't look like they charged me for that rate jump, so I'm thinking now that it may have been a glitch? Odd for sure.

Isn't that weekend coming up after the 24th cheer worlds? So they probably raise the prices to accommodate losing money on the group rates the teams get maybe?

Ooh, could be, but according to Google the actual anniversary date is the 22nd which is Sunday. Really close but not exact. I wonder if they will do anything that weekend? It's already the Star Wars half marathon.
