Why would someone agree to go on this show? Half the show they are making fun of the persons choices in clothing, kind of snickering at them.

I don't know. I hate this show. My friend keeps telling me she is going to put me on this show. I have informed her she will be punched on national television if she ever nominates me for that show.

Probably for the $5000 worth of free clothes.:-)

They've had people turn them down before though, that's when they've done people in New York.

One of the DISers was on the show. Do a search for it. Very interesting! Oh, and she was adorable before and after being on the show, but I do think they gave her some great advice.

I'd gladly take their abuse for $5000 and professional shopping advice! I keep telling my husband to nominate me.

because you get a whole new wardrobe for free, and hopefully have the ability to laugh at yourself, too. there was a disboard member from philly who was on a few years back and she seemed to show it as a fun, positive experience.

I will say I always preferred the british version of the show. the hosts their also pointed out their own flaws and what they did to conceal them/bring out their best.

Oh, neat!

I'd think they talk to you off camera too... it's not only what we see, in the end.

I would nominate MYSELF for the show if I could!! I know my fashion sense is horrible (I have NO idea how to accessorize). I'd love their tips and the $5000 would be very welcome too!!

Today is the first time and more than likely the last time of seeing this show. I would have no problem at all with them giving me tips and a make over (lord knows i could use it)
I have to say the end result she looked really good with the new look. It was the laughing and snickering because she didn't know what would look best on her that I didn't like.

I will admit I love Clinton and Stacey and would go on the show in a heartbeat! My goal in dressing is not to embarrass anyone! I don't want to embarrass myself, my family or friends and if they would help me I would love it!

I love the show. Usually they have good advice for people, and most of the time the people seem to feel so much better about themselves in the end.

Here's the one they did of Mayim Bialik before she went on to star on Big Bang Theory http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d8QJSw5upZY .

I would give anything to be on this show and take all the abuse going...I am a larger sized woman and I would love to have them pick out clothes for me and tell me what styles would work for my body shape...I seem to stick to black and baggy...

I actually met the Disboarder that was on the show while we were waiting to eat at Kona Cafe at the Poly...her episode had aired just the month before and I thought she looked really familiar and I asked if it was her - the give away for me was her Alice in Wonderland purse that she was carrying as it was one thing she refused to get rid of. She said she had a blast on the show.

The show was canceled earlier this year. I believe they have already shot the final episodes, which are supposed to air this summer. Of course, TLC may keep showing reruns for a long time.

Aww that's too bad. Really enjoyed them both and the show!

I liked the show. I learned a few tips from Stacy and Clinton. My favorite parts of the show are the hair and makeup segments.

I would like to see them do a show directed at the large portion of our society who wear a size 14 or over. It is very hard for plus-size women to find clothes that fit and look great on them, and many of them don't really know how to pick flattering clothes for themselves. The whole tone of the show would have to change, though. Many plus-size women have serious body image issues, so the laughing and teasing wouldn't go over well. Can't show them crying their eyes out in a dressing room because nothing in the store comes in anything higher than a size 6. I'd love to see a show that educates and empowers plus-size women to be the best beautiful woman they can be.

They've had several bigger ladies. A few had to order clothes online, because they couldn't find enough in stores.

I don't know if you're a regular watcher (I am) but many, many (it feels like probably half) of the episodes feature the women breaking down in tears in the dressing room. There have been many women on the show much larger than a 14 and S&C have always helped them find clothes that fit -- in actual brick and mortar stores, not online -- while remaining kind and enthusiastic.
