What not to miss in December?

Where is the Christmas tree at EPCOT? Is it near the "Arch of Lights"?

Yes - I believe that is where it is

Here are a couple of shots

Could someone please tell me about the Osbourn thing and the CP thing. I am going in December as well and would like to find out more about them. I don't have any idea what they are.

Osborne lights are held in MGM where the backlot tour goes. It would be like walking through your neighborhood at Christmas and every house has a million lights. Very cool and they have fake snow falling. I think they are turned on at 6.

CP is a Candle light Processional that is held 3 times at night in Epcot. It is story telling with an orchastra. We are doing it for the first time this year. I have heard that it is very moving.

Both of these are free.

I am in the stages of planning our Christmas trip to WDW. I know the things like MVMCP/CP/Osborne lights are not to be missed. What else is there to do?

Have you planned your trip yet?

and those that have gone...any tips and things to share what you did?

We will be at SSR Dec 17-23.
So far planned:
Dec 19th DIS DVC Meet
Dec 20th MVMCP and LLT dinner
Dec 22nd CP and LeCellier dinner

Thanks for your help!

Hello Cinderminnie!! It looks like we'll be at WDW at basically the same time...we're there 12/18 - 12/25 and staying at SSR also. And we're doing MVMCP on 12/20, too...I guess great minds think alike, huh?
I hadn't heard about the DIS DVC meet...is there a thread for it on the DVC boards or the DIS meets board? We are actually going to the CP 12/19 so I'm not sure if it'd work out for the DIS meet, but any info you could share would be appreciated.

I think everyone has already given the great hints...but I'll add that I plan to bring some Christmas decorations for our room...a small tree with inexpensive, nonbreakable ornaments (searching for all Disney), stockings to hang (I'm probably going to make these using Disney fabrics), lights to string on the balcony or around the window of the room. Since we'll be there on Christmas morning I'm planning on taking some advice and shop for a couple special gifts for DH and DS to have under the little tree to open Christmas morning.

And for whomever posted about the 3D glasses to use at Osborne Lights....where did you get them? :confused3

And for whomever posted about the hot chocolate mugs...do you mean that you can buy a keepsake mug with hot chocolate in the parks? Where did you find these in the past?

Well, thanks for the info! I appreciate it! If I think of any must do's I'll post them later.

Ya'll have a magical weekend!!

Thanks everyone for some WONDERFUL tips! I have a page full of notes now! What I like is the extra special or tradition things that you did. I like to see how others made their Christmas magical in their own way.
So many things to see and do besides the regular rides, etc. I love Christmas and I love Disney, so I am so happy, excited and joyful to be going this year! :hyper: :thewave:
Thanks again and keep the tips coming!

Check out this thread on the DIS DVC Meet - Dec 19th at Iron Spike Room at WL 9:00pm (tentive date and time)

We are also bringing a Christmas tree to decorate and lights, etc. We have a Grand Villa so I plan to have a Turkey dinner one night in room and also bake cookies there too. We are getting there a day earlier to get our room right away the next day so that we can get groceries and set up the tree before anyone else gets there. We are decorating tree that first night after our traditional first night dinner at Fulton Crab House. Have to make a stop at Disney Christmas Shoppe to buy everyone a special ornament to hang.

Do I sound like Martha Stewart? YIKES! LOL :rotfl2:

I have been told that the show is moved because the new car show is taking up the space where the decorations would normally go? Does any one know if this is true? :earseek:

The Osbourne Lights were moved to the Streets of America last year.

The CMs hand out free 3D glasses to the crowd.

I understand the Osbourne Lights are free but do you need to make prior reservations? Or is it handled like an attraction and you walk thru? Thanks!
I have my CP dining reservations made for 12/24.

Nope, Osbourne lights are at MGM and anyone can view them without additional cost. I've never seen them myself, but plan to this Christmas so I've been reading up on them. According to what I've found, you need to allow a while to see them all and just take it in. They also have 3D glasses for you so you can view some of it. I've read where some folks suggest getting there early in the evening since it does tend to get bogged down on the Backlot. People also say to grab a hot chocolate and just stroll around...think that's what we're going to do.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the info...I'm looking forward to my time in Disney at Christmas!
This will be on our to-do list while we are there!
Enjoy your Christmas!
