We just got our waitlist and are now at Kidani for two nights in November. Since we're only there two nights before moving to the cabins, what should we not miss??

I know I read that they do night vision of the Savanna at AKL, do they do this at Kidani as well? The kids would love this? Anything else for the kids?

They have a safari package you can purchase, and children have to be a certain age, my youngest (6) was not old enough, so we did not do that. The community room there is really cool. Kidani has a great water slide, and the splash area is fun. They did games at the splash area with the the children.

The last time we were there was a year ago in July. In the evening there was a small show of traditional song/dance in the lobby. We really enjoyed it. When the show is done, they will sit with anyone who has questions.

Great Community Hall. Wonderful storytelling out by the firepit at night. Sometimes the storytellers are in the lounge next to the Community Hall also.

Love the pool area. Like other resorts, they will do games, dances in the afternoon and movies at night.

Don't forget that you don't have to take a bus or walk to Jambo House or back. Jambo/Kidani now run a van shuttle each way. Just let the valet guys out front know you are waiting for it and they will call it or let you know how long it will be. They told us they originally ran a golf cart shuttle, but it became so popular, that now they are using an airconditioned van back and forth.

did not know this - this will be very helpfully!!! thanks so much.

Thanks, this all sounds great. Since we are only staying two nights, want to really see what we can.

:) The CMs are great and all have cards that they will pass to you when you have visited them. Each card has the flag of their country on it, and a small amount of info...like a business card of sorts. I am sure the kids would love to get a couple of those for their autograph book or scrapbook. Mine went in a scrapbook. There is sometimes a tour of Saana in the early afternoon I think. Community Hall is very nice and I am going to try to make a button ($1) when we get back there this Dec. There is a posting of the events each day in the lobby. Soemtimes the kids do arts and crafts, like making a bead necklace, or they will bring a small animal in for show and tell.

Ask at Jambo House when they are doing the Night Vision Goggles for animal viewing. My kids got a big kick out of that. I even took a couple of photos through the goggles. We were tired and could have just stayed in our villa over at Kidani, but it was well worth the evening stroll over to do this little activity.

Don't forget the movies at night by the pool! Not sure if all the resorts do this but my kids always get a kick out of pulling up a lounge chair and sitting by the pool sipping their "drinks" while watching a Disney movie :goodvibes

I'm glad you asked this question- we'll be making our first stay at Kidani over Labor Day and I was wondering the same thing!

The Savanna view and the wine in the gift shop! ;) Combine them - Drinking wine while watching the savanna!

Don't miss the pool and the pool parties!!! Our kids had a BLAST at the pool parties!! They take place in the afternoon. The pool is amazing!

Do all the activities happen at the Jambo House or in Kadini? We are staying at Kadini in Jan and are wondering if we should switch to Jambo. We have a 3 year old with us and want to make sure she enjoys herself too.

Our kids LOVED the pool party, and we even won the family trivia contest, although we did get beat out during the scavenger hunt! Check the board in the lobby for activities when you check in!

This is a specific thread about what is happening at Kidani, so as you can see there is much going on at Kidani.

They do a Nintendo Wii dancing contest in the afternoons in the lobby where you compete against a CM.

I like to play foosball and they have a foosball table in the Community Room! :thumbsup2

We spent Christmas at Kidani last year and will be there for Thanksgiving family vacation this year. There is so much to do at the resort that I felt like I did not even need to go to the park everyday! The comunity room is so much fun and offers a lot of crafts and games for the kids. The firepit with the story teller is a definite to do, and also we did go over to Jambo to view the night vision savannah. That was so neat and having the guides there to help find the animals was so helpful~ saw a giraffe that looked like a rock from the distance in the dark, but with the goggles was able to see it...

The swimming area is fabulous and there are many organized activities there like the nightly movie. The kids all hung out in the zero depth entry area and watched the movie from the pool- that is the very definition of vacation in my book ;)

One of my favorite advantages of Kidani over Jambo is the additional bathroom (2 in a 1 bedroom and 3 in a 2 bedroom). While this is not an event or activity, it definitely made the trip flow more smoothly with 2 adults, 2 teens, and a little princess all sharing a room!

Enjoy your visit, hope you love it as much as we do!
