What!! No Parade?

Disneyland Paris hasn't had a night parade in years, and Disneyland Shanghai never had it. I'm sure you'll survive.

I never understood the appeal of night time parades, especially MSEP the floats were so dark, you could hardly see the characters. Sometimes costumes need to be made bigger to hide all the electrics, making the characters you can see look out of proportion. Dreamlights and Paint the Night are doing a better job at it, but still the flickering lights usually distract me from looking at floats or characters.

I don't think MK will see a night time parade before the 50th of I'm being honest. With the castle projection show and fireworks a parade just adds confussion to the hub. Being able to keep the streets open longer lets people be more center and towards the stage then ever before.

Honestly, I'll only miss it because parades are prime time for me to hop on rides while everyone else is waiting for the parade. I definitely won't miss the maze it presented me with trying to get around everyone. There is still the afternoon parade and HEA to contend with.

I feel it is Disney s greedy way of drawing more people into paying extra for the "special event ticket"(which is now happening practically every other night!)..only then will the people have their beloved night time parade back!! ..Scandalous in my opinion!!

Seriously?! I couldn't care less that MSEP is gone and have no interest in the parties. There is a lot of other stuff going on in WDW. Maybe check it out?

Of course there is "other stuff going on" but unless you are in & out of Disney all year those of us that make this trip a "once in a life time trip" want to see the darkness drawing in and the children holding their lighted wands in the air waiting for that night time parade to begin its a massive part of what Disney is!!!Of course this is only my opinion & obviously not yours ,but i think you will find its shared by thousands

I truly miss the evening parades- both Spectro and MSEP. I loved them both and hope they come back. I wish they never took them away as these were always the highlight to my trips. Now, we all get to cram in even more to see HEA to be able to see the projections on the castle.

Geez. Are you just pulling our leg here and trying to get everyone worked up or are you really that negative in real life? Maybe you should move on from Disney? You seem very disenchanted.

No maybe im a realist & your sucked in..I love Disney but am honest about what i see....(good or bad)

There are pros and cons about the night time parade. It's a pretty big chunk of your time spent sitting and waiting if you camp out for a good spot, then usually sitting and waiting again for the fireworks shortly thereafter. However, for me, it is definitely a big part of why I love Disney and why I love to spend so much time at MK. The parade during the day doesn't have the same excitement as everything all lit up at night. I definitely missed it when we were there earlier this year. Paint the Night is the best parade I've seen so far and I wish it would come to WDW. I'm sure it will eventually return, but who knows how long that will take. Maybe for the 50th?

I've been going to WDW since 1999. I tend to go at least three times a year, sometimes more. Do I miss the nighttime parade? Yep. Seriously? Those who think the new fireworks show precludes a parade? Why? There's no reason there can't be a parade as well. There just isn't anything all that special about Happily Ever After. Yes, it's a good show, but not good enough to fill in the empty spot of a nighttime parade.
Is Disney spending a ton of money now? Sure they are. But....let's be realistic. They're taking down GMR....so that leaves yet another hole over at DHS. Back in June, I was charged $126 to get my dd into DHS...premium cost for that particular day. Sure, a Sat in mid-June. But, for what? ToT, RnRC, TSMM, ST? Only reason we did that was so she could visit with the people she had worked with.
Epcot has entire buildings that are going unused....buildings that used to house some fairly interesting activities. Not anymore.
And now we find that MK is going to have a ton of construction...new theater along Main St and the Tron attraction over by SE. Terrific...nothing is quite as magical as scrims!
I love WDW...I truly do. But, they seem to be grabbing every last penny they can. Extra special parties...for what? A few little desserts? Used to be almost worth it, but not at the prices they charge now. Same with the Christmas and Halloween parties. The amount they are getting for those parties is nuts! And the Christmas party is a shadow of it's former self. Shows have been taken away, decorations have gotten smaller, crowds have gotten hugely larger....all with a much higher cost.

So yes...some of us really miss those nighttime parades. I don't much care about Paris and Shanghai...I don't go there. It's a cost issue with Disney..pure and simple. The same with the Lights of Winter over at Epcot. They were done away with because of obsolete technology? Seriously? Pretty sure Disney could have figured that one out if they had wanted to. They used to have a really great tree lighting show there as well....CMs from around the world around the tree. It was quite something. Now? Nothing. There have even been times when an entire section of that tree wasn't lit!!! Go figure.

I am not disenchanted. Not at all. I still feel the magic...I have trips in Sept, early Nov and then late Nov/early Dec, and late Jan planned. So, I'm obviously still going. But.....I am also spending time over at US/IoA on each trip! I'll hold an AP for both Disney and Universal. I am eating less and less at WDW restaurants due to the high cost and decreasing quality. I now rent a car, almost every single trip. Yes, my dd lives down there now, but she comes to see me. I just find myself wanting to go off Disney property more than ever. I can see the things I don't like, yet still see the things I love.

With Disney building two new hotels, it's going to put more people than ever in the parks, with no 5th gate. Disney doesn't care. And to think that someone actually told me that I am wrong....that just because there will be new hotels, that doesn't mean more people in the parks! Seriously? Does anyone really think that Disney is planning on building new hotels that will be consistently under capacity? Nope...they do their homework. And sure, the GMR was in need of serious refurb...but taking it down, with a month notice? Crazy. Never even heard a whisper of a rumor about that one!!! W all knew about Ellen's going down to make way for Guardians. I guess they think DHS needs a ride for the little ones. Terrific.

I know I'm in the minority here. Heaven forbid anyone say that Disney isn't perfectly magical. And I know that things change. You'll never hear me say 'Oh my God...Walt must be spinning. This isn't his vision'. He was all about change. But to take away some of the things that they have taken away is nutty. But, it's not my company...although I do own shares. They get to do what they want. And I get to spend less time and money there if I choose. And yes, there are plenty of people who don't feel this way and will go there and be quite happy. I get it.

......spot on!!!!

Really? That one parade is what makes Disney?!

After all of the multi-million dollar additions to WDW that were announced yesterday, I'm hard pressed to define Disney as "slipping". MK has two new evening shows - perhaps try to enjoy those?

As usual all those additions are many years in the future with the exception of Toy Story (still a year away) and Star Wars (still 2 years out) after 4 + years in the making! I just hope there is more to it than the eye candy Pandora has to offer, although FOP is fantastic the area is small and only added two attractions. Actually the river ride should be counted as a half an attraction IMO ! I just cannot understand why this area took 4+ years to build this small area. Meanwhile the prices continue upward.

I think Disney can't win here. You are complaining about their adding things but then complain when things never change. Not you specifically but others do. They can't never change and never add things. Something has to give. They can't remain stagnant. Change and growth hurt for a bit, always have, always will. And typically are always worth it in the end. Will it be a bit of turmoil in all the parks for a period of 3 or so years? Yes it will. Will we need to keep our eyes on the target to live through the growing pains? Yes we will. It will suck at times. A lot probably. But I'm sure not going to prefer no changes over the new things to come. I can't imagine many will.

Disney is a business doing what works for their business, and right now they put their MK efforts and cash into Happily Every After. We are the vacationers that have either chosen to go to "the show" or not. If the parade is a really important part of your trip, go to Disneyland. There are lots of people that are okay without the parade and have seen no serious backlash since it has gone. Given they will now be building Tron, a theater and HOPEFULLY considering an upgrade to the Speedway and other Tomorrowland blight ... I think they cemented the no parade thing right now.

Parties have been around over a decade, that is nothing new, nothing scandalous about it. Those are some great parades but they still are not like the usual Disney lights parades so .... not the same thing, so if one is in to the beloved light parades best they not go to the parties. Apparently guests are very happy and excited for the extras like Dessert Parties, Dining Experiences, Early Morning Magic etc because they are selling out. I honestly don't feel they impact my trips in any way.

Disney has expanded the night shows at AK and DHS. They have provided something for that "entertainment slot". I get they aren't parades and not for everyone, but not everything at Disney will be liked by everyone. So for every person upset, someone is happy.

I say it over and over, Disney is very expensive and vacations are priceless. I truly believe that if a destination has you more upset than excited or you return disappointed and disillusioned ... it is time for a new vacation spot. Vote with your dollars. Disney will continue to run this like a business for it's stockholders, and we are in control of our happiness.
