What...No Fish & Chips? FAIL

I was at California Adventure's Pacific Wharf a couple of nights ago. Its themed to look like the Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco.

So shouldn't you be able to get a good fish & chips there? There are many choices for fish & chips in San Fran. but in California Adventure, you can get Mexican Food, Chinese Food or Soup and Sandwiches from Boudin Bakery (which I understand the Boudin thing) but I really had a craving for the fish and thought for sure they would have it there.

They used to have them at a place called Strips, Dips and Chips in Paradise Pier, but I believe that got removed to put in Toy Story Mania.

You can get fish & chips at Farmers Market in DCA. I know it doesn't make much sense!

TOTAL FAIL !!!!!!! My husband was hoping to find a clam chowder bowl. He was a little annoyed when it was now where to be found.

They definitely have clam chowder at Pacific Wharf in DCA. It comes in a Boudin bread-bowl, and it's very yummy too.

Yes, there are clam chowder bowls in DCA and DL.

I have actually never had fish and chips in SF before and I don't know that I have ever noticed a fish and chips stand near the real fisherman's wharf. There are certainly a lot of seafood places and lots of chowder bowl places though. Maybe I have been blind for the last 29 years. It has been a while since I have walked the tourist strip over there.

ok does anybody believe that the soups in the bread bowls are better at Pacific Warf then the gumbo at NOS? i think they are just my opinion.. i think the food at DCA is MUCH better

I used to live 3 blocks from Fishermans Wharf in SF; if it makes you feel any better, its hard to get a really good set of fish & chips there as restaurants don't need repeat business due to the # of tourists who'll eat any claptrap. So maybe they're just being true to reality...

I missed much of DCA last time, but if they have a "Pacific Heights" or "Nob Hill" section of SF, perhaps you should have looked there

I always associated SF Fisherman's Wharf with clam chowder in a bread bowl. I associate Fish n Chips with England. Perhaps that's just me?

ummm ya! I love the food at Pacific Wharf it's a "have to"
for us I don't know what the deal is with the sourdough at NOS it's rubbery. Maybe it's the trip under the Golden Gate Bridge in DCA. You know the best sourdough comes from the bay area!

RFLOl that's funny! i was so not impressed with the value of my steak gumbo in the rubbery bread bowl .it did not taste fresh. the gumbo was like something i could get from a can.

I love Pacific Wharf..it's a great place to feed the masses and all the different food choices make it good for my picky eaters..I have not tried the bread bowl yet..Next time for sure..

It's not just you. It's me as well. I was born in SF and grew up in San Jose but we had family friends in SF that we visited all the time, and I know that we never once had fish and chips there. Chowder yes, but never fish and chips.


Hint for the bread bowls: have them give the soup/chili/gumbo/chowder in a cup (they have them there), and bag the full sourdough in a plastic bag! Much much better. The portion of soup looks tiny, but I watched them pour it, and it's the same amount. That plus only a portion of the bread, dipped in the soup or slathered in butter and eaten along with the soup, is SO much better than the gloopy messy soup inside the breadbowl, and you don't have to make the decision to absolutely fill yourself with bread by eating it all, or throw the nasty shell away...just take it with you for later snacking!

You know what I could not believe was no where to be found at DL at all anywhere, Ghiradelli. They have one at DTD in WDW, why not somewhere at DL? I was very disappointed in that.

Disney Dreams, that's why it's good to have options. Because while the inside of the breadbowl might taste good for a few bites, ultimately we have to stuff ourselves (which isn't health for hubby), or toss it (and those things are expensive).

Tasted much much better to me to just dunk it.
