You might give Fox News Channel a shot. They carried Katrina coverage, while the witch was still a hurricane, without commercial interruption. They're normally about the worst to watch for upcoming weather, but they really went all out for Katrina coverage.
Don't bother checking yet, you still have a month until your trip. You can start checking a week or so before you leave. Even then details can be fuzzy.
One thing to keep in mind: in the 33 years WDW had been open prior to last year, the parks were closed due to a hurricane exactly one day.
I like the weather channel. At 50 minutes after the hour it shows "Tropical Update" If there are any storms or disturances to see, they will show them. They show "anything of interest".
There are some potential storms way out in the Atlantic. If they do form into storms there is no telling where they will go...toward the US, toward the Caribbean, or they may curve back out into the open Atlantic. Of course, they just may stay what they are now...clusters of clouds with some rain, and go away quietly.
In any event, they will be gone well before you arrive in Florida.
since moving to Miami and earning my honorary hurricane meteorology degree, I've discovered that going to the primary source of info., i.e., the National Hurricane Center, is most useful. That's where the news stations get their "updates" from anyway. It's www.nhc.noaa.gov
But Bob P is totally right, it's WAAAAY to early to be checking anything for storms in late September.
Actually, I think WDW was closed last fall for several days. I am also going the end of Sept (9/24-9/28). I think that is the end of the hurricane season so hopefully the weather will be gone by then. I bought insurance just to be safe.
We live in Polk and that is the only Orlando station we get, we found them a great help last year during the hurricanes. We do love Tampa Bays 10 weather forecaster also.
