What my Niece has heard (She's a CM)

It's not a ride now, but what would make sense is turn the Hogwart's Express into a ride. However, the connecting of the parks in this way is one reason the concept of the HP expansion into USO seemed so off the wall. But some actual concept plans apparently DO show the expansion as rumored, and mentions a connecting facility but didn't go into detail.

I can think of some really cool ways they could do it, but they would be expensive and/or impractical...

this is like a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend rumor.

It's always fun to see how the message gets messed up during the game of telephone -- I'm sure what she heard was what we heard here, that Universal may build a train to connect Harry Potter attractions in IoA and US... but in this "telephone" game it became an existing ride that connects the two parks, etc.

How funny would it be if her source was a friend-of-a-friend-of-a-friend who read it here?

Has there been any leaks or thoughts to when this WWOHP expansion will start or finish?

It's secretly been started already and soft openingsr are scheduled for next month!

Nothing official, but if the speculation is correct that the expansion will go in the Jaws slot I would assume they would start working pretty soon (otherwise why close Jaws early). If they start soon an opening sometime in 2014 would be most likely. Again, nothing official, just speculation.

I think it is going to be a Monorail to connect the two.

I'm having trouble envisioning how the Harry Potter section of IoA could be made to join with the Jaws section of US. Magical helicopters could do it, I suppose.

It sounds like a sinister way to make you buy hopper passes. Why not just Harry Potter world in one spot.

The Potter expansion has long been rumored and is no suprise. They haven't much else to hang their hat on at Universal, so they almost HAVE to do this.

They may have very little, but Dudley Do-rights Ripsaw Falls has consistently been named in the top 5 of Amusement Todays Golden Ticket awards.

Sinister like WDW makes sure that not all of the princesses attend either CRT or Akershus.

I was not trying to make disney out to be any better. It just to me seemed to me like Universal said wait if we expand Harry Potter world to the other parlk people might be more inclined to buy hoppers. IMO they both have a squeeze as much money out of the customer as you can philosophy. Hey I am Giants and Jets fan, to see a company screw the people over, I don't need to go to Florida.

I Just think for the people who wanted to take the day to see Harry Porter World they are sticking it to them.

The difference in price between a one-park ticket at Universal and a park-to-park ticket ranges from $35 for a single-day ticket to as little as $3 on a four-day ticket.

So, you can pay between $3 and $35 extra to experience twice as much stuff. This is screwing people over?

Also, the fact that you are both a Jets and Giants fan tells me you have issues and can't be trusted anyway. ;)

Look I wasn't trying to get into an arguement, but I got 2 kids. If i was going togo see Harry Potter World for a day. that would be 35+35+30+30 (guessing on the $30's)
I think I would feel screwed.

I think it could be considered "screwing the customer" if what they are doing is trying to get more money out of people who are only going to US to go to Harry Potter and nothing more. I don't know if there are statistics that show that USO suffered while IOA surged. I think it's possible.

I don't think it was necessarily a driving decision as much as that's where they could get the space they needed. I think the need for a park hopper is a bonus (to them) and could help pay for the expansion.

Heck, we don't even know how exactly they are going to handle moving between the parks via HP yet. If there is a ride between, are they going to have to check that everyone has a hopper to board? That could get crazy. Or maybe they allow travel between without a hopper, but you can't EXIT the area in the park you didn't enter it without one. That's just ideas coming in to my head and aren't based on any reality at this point.

Wow just saw this part.
I am really a Giants fan, but I just don't hate the Jets like most of the others.
Looking at sign under your name, I take it you are a Hitchhikers fan. Which makes me feel that the two of us would most likely be able to sit down have a couple of pan galatic garlgle blasters and completely forget what we were arguing about.

If you went to Disney and wanted to see the Finding Nemo attractions, you'd have to visit Epcot AND Animal Kingdom.

If you wanted to the Toy Story attractions, you'd have to visit Magic Kingdom AND Hollywood Studios.

...so what's the difference?
