I know lots of kids are picky eaters, and I can't say that I'm complaining about this at all, but... my 4 year old would be the happiest kid in the land if I gave her salad for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!:confused3:rotfl:

Anyone else with a kid like this??

I went to my parents to pick them up yesterday after work, and she was sitting there, eating salad - with chopsticks - and very upset that she may not be able to finish it all because I was there early.

Yes my son who just turned 4 loves salad and vegetables! He is the kid at a party eating veggies and dip while all the other kids eat junk.

Yes I am also lucky mine loves salad, fruit, she is not really that picky of an eater will eat almost anything. I would not say she would prefer salad for every meal but she will eat a lot of healthy things. consider it a blessing, I've heard some kids won't eat that healthy and prefer junk food.

DD11 is just naturally drawn to healthier foods - her sister bought her a green and red pepper for Christmas. She loves salad and fruit, too.

I wish I had that problem.

My 2 yr old grandson loves cottage cheese, coleslaw, bagels and cream cheese and yogurt. He is not a picky eater and loves most vegetables.
My 6 and 7 yr old grands are very picky and don't like many veggies at all.

My niece eats mainly fruits and vegetables. They can get in some chicken and french fries occasionally but she's perfectly happy with fruits and vegetables. She's almost 9 and has been this way since she was about 1.

She doesn't eat pizza, any kind of pasta, any meat other than chicken and only grilled chicken or like chicken nuggets, no bread of any kind other than crackers and even then only certain kinds, no cheese other than shredded sharp cheddar (and she can tell if you try to substitute something else!) no eggs. No cake or cookies or brownies of any kind although she will lick the icing off and she will eat ice cream.

Oh wait, she loves bacon. So she does eat some meat other than chicken if that counts.

But mainly she's content with vegetables and fuit. She can eat all the tomatoes and cuccumbers you can put in front of her. :)

I wish I liked vegetables half as much as she does!

My dd (4) does like junkfood, but her favorite foods are soup and salad.
lightly she has been asking me to make fish soup, I actually think she would enjoy it.

My kids have been known to fight over the last of the broccoli. And when given the choice of a cookie or a fruit/vegetable they 99.9% of the time chose the fruit/vegetable.

Dd8 loves salad, and has since she was very young. Her favorite is romaine with feta, oil, and balsamic vinegar, but when she was 4, she loved crumbled blue cheese on them. When we go out to eat, she usually gets an entree size salad, eats the whole thing (even with chicken), and she's very skinny (but loves salad).

There are not many veggies my son likes but give him a salad with ranch or caesar dressing and he could eat it all day. I will take a salad eating kid anyday. :goodvibes

That is awesome! My DD used to think brocoli was dessert. I was perfectly happy with that but MIL decided to tell her she was not supposed to like it and that ice cream/chocolate was REAL dessert. DD is now 10 and we are struggling with her weight. She rarely eats veggies now without me being creative.

DH has high cholesterol so i'm following the Meditereanan Diet now and at first DD was like UCK but last night I made broiled Salmon and she scarfed it up. She loves mussells too! I'm so afraid she'll tell MIL and find out that isn't the norm!

DS on the other hand, give the kid a jar of peanut butter and a spoon and he is good to go.

My brother was very much a salad and fruit kid. his idea of dinner was a chef salad. my parents couldn't keep fruit in house with him around.

Yup, my 5 yo is the resident vegetarian. He will do ANYTHING for asparagus...LOL...it's his absolute favorite! He loves salads, any kind of salad. And fruits, haven't met one yet that he doesn't like.

And he eats pork, beef and chicken fine...I haven't quite sold him on salmon yet but he loves fried calamari and clams!

But...he won't eat potatoes except for a McD's type hash brown occasionally, or a few french fries. Or anything with melted cheese except pizza; no mac and cheese, no grilled cheese, no cheeseburgers.

DD was like that when she was little. She loved salad and all raw vegetables (but not cooked.) She hated french fries and would request salad or fruit at restaurants.

Then she became a teenager and outgrew that stage. :lmao:

Now that she's 20, she's going back to her old ways. She got WAY excited on our last trip to WDW that the street vendors sold carrots with ranch dip and apple slices with caramel.

My son loved veggies when he was about that age, too. Around ten he totally turned off of them, wanted only chicken nuggets. At 15 he thought salads were for GIRLS. I finally got him back around to salads when I added fried chicken to them! :lmao:

I WISH kids stayed the way they are from 4 to 6... the world would be a better place!!

I've got a 4-year old and a 1-year old who could live off of tomatoes and other veggies. The 1-year old will literally push any meat off to the side, and eat the veggies.

They certainly didn't get their appetites from me.

My 11 month grandson loves all sorts off veggies and fruit. He would rather veggies than a hamburger. Loves asparagus, broccoli, beans, corn, carrots and so on. Hope it continues.

YUP - DD loves veggies & fruit (but not lettuce). We just had a party at our house and while the other kids were gobbling up pizza, potato chips & dip, she was eating a plate of fruit salad...her choice.

When we put a plate of food in front of her, she will eat the veggies first and then ask for 2nds before touching the meat & starch. At school, she is the only one in her class who eats cauliflower so the teachers pick it out of the mixed veggies and give it all to her.

LOL, When my kids were 4, they only ate veggies because I made them. As adults, they eat better than we do. Salads, veggies, lean meats, etc. They of course also like burgers, pizza, sweets, but in moderation. While some picky kids grow up to be picky adults, most don't. So, anyone reading this who has picky children, relax, give them a variety to try and they will probably eat healthier when they get older. My DS (24) takes salad, broccoli, grilled chicken, brown rice, apples for lunch to work. At 4, he would eat some fruit, but almost no veggies. Up until age 3, they ate absolutely everything, so it varies child to child and year to year.

My 2 year old nephew would much rather eat broccoli than cake or ice cream.

My DS15 is an adventurous eater. By the time he was 6 his favorite food was lobster. Still likes that, but also escargot and calamari are now among his favorites.
