Beacuse the DISsers seem to always be able to figure these tings out (usually within about thirty minutes--you guys are GOOD:rotfl:).

My Aunt posted this on Facebook the other day. My cousins and I cannot figure it out and are all now going nuts wanting to know. Any ideas? Oh, and yes we all had to point out to my aunt that MTV was not around in the 70s:lmao: I would not be surprised if the video is even newer than early 80s--I do not recall many with such story lines until later in the decade.
Thanks for any help you may have. I am not sure what my aunt wants this for, but I would like to help her out (and now I want to know;)):

I'm looking for old video that played on MTV in the 70's or early 80's. I don't know the name/who sang it,but it was about a man who is broke he finds a lottery ticket and becomes wealthy, takes a cruise, the ship sinks he looses everything is on a deserted island to find out it's not deserted.I think the word lucky is in the title. If you know anything about this old MTV Music Video, please let me know.

Do you by some chance know any of the lyrics to the song? This might help. You have me curious now.

NO. We have asked her. She can't even narrow down the genre (rock, metal, rap, country) for us:sad2: It is definitely a needle in a BIG haystack--but it is driving us all nuts now:rotfl2:

Is it "Happy to be Stuck with You" by Huey Lewis? I seem to remember that was the storyline...

So funny that you both came up with the same one at the same time.

Since it is missing the lottery and cruise and starting alone on the island I am guessing not it--but I will run it by her because you never know. Thanks:goodvibes

It does look like exactly what was described!:thumbsup2 (and now off to go get Happy to Be Stuck With You out of my brain :headache:).

I tried Googling several sets of terms but could not come up with it. What did you google?

I used Google to search "song finder." From there I found a site called midomi.com. You can search by lyrics, or you can even sing or hum them! I searched the word "Lucky" and looked at all the songs that had that in the Title. The Greg Kihn one was the 4th one down. From there I cross referenced those songs on YouTube. I didn't know the Greg Kihn one, so I actually skipped it the first time through, and went through more recognizable names.

I knew this wasn't directed at me, but I googled, "80's Music Video with Lucky in the title"

Took a few clicks but I ended up looking at another link regarding a question on the song, once I got there I just googled that song in particular and found it.

Thanks:goodvibes I am not that good. If google itself does not turn it up I rarely know what links to follow to keep searching. To me what you did is pretty impressive:thumbsup2

I am now pondering WHY, with all of the good and fun things that came out in the 80s my aunt is wanting to find this:confused3 It's just not grabbing me:rotfl2:

I googled "80s video lucky". Then scanned the list, and saw mention of Greg Kihn Band that seemed to make sense (sometimes they just pull your search terms from all over a site, but these seemed to go in order). Then I googled "video greg kihn lucky", and got the youtube links.

I love searching for stuff like that, it makes me happy! I got all nervous while watching the video to see if it had ALL the elements...will i be first, can I do this quickly, etc etc... :goodvibes I'm not often competitive, but I do like finding stuff, LOL.

I should make mention that it's "Greg Kihn Band", not just Greg Kihn. Got that wrong in my other post.

Molly--that is so cute:goodvibes. I can totally picture my daughter getting all competitive about something like that too. Thanks for helping me (and my Aunt) out and I am glad you got to have some fun in the process:upsidedow
