What music do you hate?

The only popular genre I have yet to hear good music from is Screamo. I don't care for the sound, and find it all rather grating.

I'm not a big fan of rap or pop but I if the artist has written the music themsleves I admire that (I think that maybe discounts a lot of rap when they sample perfectly good songs and make an annoying cacophany of noise :headache:) I haven't heard much country so can't really comment, I think the young Disney Channel stars are very talented and make music that appeals to the younger viewers.

I think I tend to judge music by talent of the performers and then if it's catchy and then if it doesn't want to make me scream when I've heard it for the millionth time (Coldplay, used to like them before they were over played)

The oldies are definately the best though David Bowie, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed (I was born in the wrong decade )

Basically.... TAYLOR SWIFT!!! What is the appeal, anyway?? She's horrid! Off-key, imperfect pitch, whiny, same-old-same-old themes in her music... GAG ME!!!

I despise country and x-rated rap too.

Pretty much, if it isn't the Beatles or Paul McCartney... I don't wanna hear it.

I :lovestruc :lovestruc :lovestruc your signature :thumbsup2

I dont understand the appeal of Bob Dylan. I've tried to see the genius that everyone seems to see but me. I think it's one of the "emperor's new clothes" scenarios. The man can not sing. He might write great songs...but he should let someone else record them. If you really want to have some fun.....go to iTunes and sample Bob Dylan's Christmas album :Christmas In The Heart". It got me through a couple of blue periods around the holidays. All I had to do was listen to the snippet of Little Drummer Boy, Silver Bells or Must Be Santa and the gales of laughter would immediately make me feel better. It might be the funniest thing I've ever heard.

Kevin, I used to feel the same way about Bob Dylan but at some point in the last few years something just clicked for me. Now I adore his music. I agree that he CAN'T sing but I think I have looked past that and have listened to more of the music and words. I haven't listened to the Christmas album but now I want to check it out ... I can see how there could be a "laugh-factor" there.

Wouldn't have guessed from your signature :lmao:

Pity they're all dying in order of talent tho, means we will be stuck with that embarassment that is Ringo Starr for far too long....:scared1:

I must admit I kinda take the Beatles for granted with being from the same place as them, but I do go through phases of listening to them a lot, especially Sgt. Pepper's :)

Thank you dear! :goodvibes
Oh yeah - I cannot stand Nickleback. Must every song sound the same? :sad2:
Good, I'm not the only one who can't take them either. My sister LOVES them. I don't see the appeal.

I know... it's suuuuch a secret they're my favorite. :rotfl2: Interesting to see you're from Liverpool! I want to visit so badly and see all the places my favorite four musicians frequented. :)

Ahhh, yeah, Ringo's not the greatest, but I love all four of them (even though we've lost two, sadly, before their time). I can't imagine not having Paul McCartney, I think I'd not be the person I am today without him, his music, and his influence on me growing up (of course, I have my mother to thank for that as well, as she introduced me to the Beatles at a very young age). I'm not getting into all that now, this prolly isn't the best place to launch my how-the-Beatles/Paul McCartney-influenced-my-life story. :lmao:

I will admit, I don't like country one bit either, but there is talent there among a select few of the singers. Carrie Underwood is a phenomenal singer even though her genre isn't my taste. My mother is going to a Tim McGraw concert soon and I'm curious to hear about that (I was invited but politely declined.... ;) ).

Go! I'm a big Beatles fan too and it was so neat to check out the Cavern Club :) Very cool! Get over there!

I hate RAP music of any kind and the Beatles and the Rolling Stones -- yes, I know -- I'm weird...but their music did/does nothing fo rme.

The only thing I listen too on a regular basis any more is Country. Otherwise it's music from the 40's, 50's, 60's and early 70's. We have sattilite in our car and it is fantastic.

I LOATHE 80s pop. I think it's terrible.

I also turn off the radio when bands like Nickleback or Creed are on. The music is just as terrible as 80s pop... both making me want to rip my ears off.

Although, it is funny seeing the trashy ladies who actually sing those songs in karaoke at the bar.

I agree, get yourself over here!!

You can also see Mendips (Lennon's old house), visit Penny Lane, check out the Cavern, and there's also the Beatles Museum at the docks!

I'm hoping to within the next year or two.:thumbsup2

I agree on the Stones part of that.... and the rap part.... but just those two parts...;)

You guys are making me want to jump on the next flight to Liverpool! :goodvibes:goodvibes I'm planning to hopefully next year or after. A couple friends and I want to go together.

All country, most rap (Beastie Boys are good :thumbsup2) and any bands with female singers (or solo female singers).

I spit my soda out laughing a this :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:.......

Twangy Hillbilly music, hard rock screaming, heavy metal, whiny wannabe pop singers, Any Lady Ga Ga, Weird instrumental acoustic stuff, Grunge and Hate message band music... and any music where the singers growl or yodel......;) (Most of American Idol contestants this year fit into this last category.)

I LOVE a good Motown sound. Seems to be coming back around again. (Lets hope).
