Never been to DL, been to WDW twice and loved it! We are thinking about doing 3 nights sometime next year. What time of the year is the best to go? I would like lower crowds and nice swimming weather. HAHA not gonna get those two together am I?

We have done Jan and Sept in WDW!

Early to Mid-May.

The problem with May this year will be the opening of WOC, I am not sure exactly how that will effect attendance numbers, but something to take into concideration or at least do some more research on.
I think September is very nice.

PS- we are most likely going mid may this year.

Sounds like what we strive for! Last year we went the end of April and it was good but this years will probably we busier as mentionned above. We are going to try the end of February. I've read the weather isn't the best but seeing as last year is was still -45 here it we won't complain!

I agree with DM.

The OP should be aware that May is off-season and that works differently at DLR than WDW. See "What You Should Know About Off-Season at DLR" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=18462889

The nice thing about May is that most of the refurbs are usually done by then in preparation for summer so the chances of having a major ride down for refurb are less than in other off-season months. But entertainment is still only on weekends so the OP should overlap the trip over a weekend. One can find past entertainment schedules here: "Historical DLR Park Hours, Entertainment and Refurbs" - www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2291124

With three days in May I would recommend a Thursday-Saturday visit. That gives you two nights for entertainment (Friday and Saturday) and two days that are like off-season - Thursday all day and Friday during the daytime. Hit the rides hard then and then spend Friday evening and Saturday more focused on the shows with some rides mixed in a lots of FP gathering.

I also agree with other posters that World of Color will create challenges. See this link for more info on World of Color http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2307603.

Other posters mentioned September. I think the downside of Sept are the many rides down for refurb and holiday preparation including Haunted Mansion and often Matterhorn.

If you want good weather and low crowds I think the best month to go would be May 1987.

They'll need a Flux Capacitor......;)

I think the May/Sept. suggestions are great, partly because people are less likely to take their kids out of school at the very beginning and the very end of the school year. This year the Halloween stuff started on 9/24, and I read somewhere that due to its popularity, they might start it earlier next year.

Happy planning and have a great trip!!!

The best months to visit Disneyland are January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November and December. ;)
