I've been to DL in May & June and now I am going in September. I want to go again sometime next year and I'm just wondering what everyone's "personal" favorite month is to go and why?

I know that there are months with more "refurbs" or "bigger crowds" so I'm just trying to weigh out the positives and negatives of each month.

Thanks for your help!!! ;) :) ;)

When we went in March...beautiful weather...low crowds...:lovestruc

December is our favorite month, specifically the week before Christmas.

We went in July this year and didn't enjoy it as much.

I have been in almost every month of the year, excluding a few that I have no desire to go becuase of the munber of refurbs and the rides that are usually refurbed at that time. I have never been in Sept., and that is becuase of the HM overlay refurb, and I dont think I have every been in January (again, HM overlay being taken away), and I dont think I have ever been in March, although I am willing to try March.

My most recent trip was last October, and it was my first time in October, and I loved it. Needless to say, we are going again this October. I love all the fall decorations, the weather is warm, crowds are not bad, hours are good, and not many refurbs.

Well, first pick is mid to late September. Warm days, cool nights, super low crowds. A close second would be late Feb to early March. Again, beautiful weather (small chance of rain) and low crowds, but not as low as Sept.

Good luck deciding:)

I've been during the months February, March, December, October and May... and I'm going in 10 days so it will be my first time in September.

My favorite times for low crowds are February and May.

I really enjoyed the Halloween decorations in October but it was CROWDED!!!!

We went the first week of December back in 2003 and it was pretty crowded, but the decorations were awesome.

I guess if i had to choose I would pick February or May again because of the low crowds.

We have gone for my last 4 birthdays the first week of Novemeber. Hours are short, but NO lines and I get to wear my Birthday button and have complete strangers wish me HAppy BirthDay all day long!!!!

Also, the weather is usually perfect!!! (I prefer a little gloom to blazing sun).

Oh,and I think I have been to DL all months but July!!!

ive been to DL every month except i think oct and dec....i have a feeling those would be my favorite times (i love holidays!!) ill see in a month i guess! lol but as of now, i really like feb (other than the rain) b/c of loooooow crowds;)
november is a great time to go too! fairly low crowds and great weather!!

Late November / early December (weekdays), once the Christmas decorations are up and holiday entertainment is in full swing, gets my pick.

My favorite time is in the fall. It is way low on crowds. We almost never have to use a fp because there are no lines. I also like the nip in the air. We will usually get a big dinner and then some peppermint lattes and hold hands and sit on a bench in NOS. The decorations are so fabulous and it is very romantic. It also gets sooo dark that the lights at night are very bright and sparkly.
And we are big fans of NBC overlay at the HM.It really does get cold enough that I have worn a long coat, gloves and ski cap. Its nice. I too, like a pp would rather have a little chill than the blazing sun.
Plus the Christmas decorations are just amazing. We have been every month of the year as we are lucky enough to live in So. Cal. but we do prefer the winter time.:wizard:

I like January. The weather is cold and the park clears out at night. If it rains even better as most leave and lines are small as the evening progresses.

It is after the big holiday push too so it has a relaxed vibe to it that I like.

To me the worst months to visit are June-August (too hot and crowded) and December with huge, huge crowds in the second half of the month.

Last year on Dec. 27th it is my gals B-day and my sister was in from Florida and we had it planned to go to DLR that day, we got up early, drove down and when we arrived the DL was closed to more visitors as it was filled to capacity by like 10AM. I was glad we couldn't get in as it would have been a mess that day with the massive holiday crowds.

Ooooo that excites me because my upcoming trip is planned for the end of September. I have had a hard time figuring out how to pack though cause I've had various reports of what the weather will be like. I'm excited cause the halloween stuff will be up but I don't think that there will be tooo much of a halloween crowd at that time!!!

As for the other posts, it's soooo neat to see how everyone prefers different things. I was thinking maybe march because it's close enough to be excited but far enough to be able to save however, when is spring break? Is that usually April or end of march.

Thanks for all the great posts!!!!!!! :cutie:

For weather and crowds combined, my favorite time to go is from late Feb. to early May.

Personally, I absolutey won't go any more during the summer months. The crowds and heat are just too much.

How cold is cold?

I live in Alberta, Canada so winter here is anywhere from -10 to -35 celsius.

I would have to go along with this, but we always do August. Impossible to get away at any other time of the year.

:rotfl:I was raised in San Diego so, Okay when a Californian says cold, we dont mean COOOOLD. We mean , you know California chicken skin cold.:lmao: I am a sissy when it comes to winter. Snow? Whats that? It gets about 55 degrees farenheit here at the coldest. To you that may be a summer day. My mom is from Toronto. She wears shorts in the winter here.
So, Your cold is my deep freeze:rotfl2: .My cold may be your tropical day...:rotfl:

This thread interests me because I'm planning a trip next year, and am unsure when to go, except that I would like to take advantage of the value season where room rates on the property are concerned. Even tho I am very big on being in complete control of my trip planning, I just might use a TA for this one because 1) I'm a WDW vet and don't have a lot of DLR knowledge, and 2) I want to get the best deal at the best time of the year (low crowds, good weather, good prices!). I'll continue to monitor this thread toward that end, and would welcome anyone's thoughts on using DU for my travel agency. Does anyone know if they have agents who actually specialize in DLR rather than WDW?

I have a different opinion about the rain in January. Being from WI, I have no problem with the cold. But the rain we experienced in January a couple years ago was a MONSOON to say the least! The parks were nearly deserted, and we were able to ride any attraction as many times as we liked. But we were SOAKED within minutes of leaving the hotel room! It rained ALL DAY, EVERYDAY of our vacation. We were miserable, but made the best of it we could. (dates were set and the trip was paid for) Needless to say, I vote against going in January.

Holy cow, that is COLD! :scared1: You're talkin 14F to the negative numbers. For California, that's freakin arctic.

For me, cold is any time I need to put on something with long sleeves. :p That's anything below 60F (15.5 C).

Exactly.

So what weather do YOU prefer?

We like going in September. To us it's perfect weather - still warm & sunny during the day (let's say 22-27C). We love warm sunny weather and like it being warm enough to enjoy the water rides. It does cool off in the evening - enough for us to bring a sweatshirt to put on after the sun goes down. Plus, in September the crowds are at the lowest as well as all the hotels costing way less because it is off season. We will be going from Sept 12-21.

If you can only go once in a long time, I don't recommend September unless you're fine with whatever attractions will be closed at the time. We will REALLY be missing Fantasmic this next trip. But we will be getting AP's and will go again in late fall/early winter so the ride/attraction refurbs aren't as big a deal to us.

We just LOVE Christmas so being in Disneyland during Christmas time is just the icing on the cake! Nice weather (short sleeves during the day), little to no refurbs, shows are going, extra parades, SNOW!, and everything is decked out! We went last year during non-christmas time for the first time in years and I actually thought the park looked a little sad and plain! :confused3 Crowds are low on weekdays and hours are comfortable for us. It's still a low season so hotels are reasonable. I'll go during other low season months, but December has become a "can't miss." :santa:
