I'm booked at Pop. 2 adults, 2kids(4 and 14mos). FD falls in my dates. My trip is paid and I went with DDP.
Question is I was thinking of going with Ft. Wilderness Cabin for $800 more. This is our first visit to WDW. Go with the cabins or do you recommend a different mod or just stay value?
Decisions, decisions!!

The kids may really enjoy POP so you may consider staying there! If you wanted to go mod Port Orleans (both FQ and RS) is my favorite! The resort is big enough that it doesn't seem too cramped but it is still small enough that no room feels too far away. The pool area is very kid-friendly and the overall atmosphere is enjoyable!

We've only stayed at one mod, which was CBR, and we loved it. The grounds are beautiful and I think your kids would love the pirate pool :goodvibes.

I just wish CBR had queen beds!! Why don't they switch them!
DD is a huge pirate fan and was thinking of the pirate room at CBR.

Ugh, deciding is so hard!

POR Riverside is our fav resort. We stay in the a mansion section. Love either Acadian House or Magnolia Terrace. Well located.
And POR has a few extras like a boat to DTD, evening entertainment in the lounge that appeals to all ages, cane fishing, horse & carriage rides, & quiet pools.
Beautiful landscaping. I love strolling along the river. So pretty and peaceful.
Great food court too.

The cabins are nice if you have a rental car, but you have to get in the car and drive to everything around the resort. I like a place you can walk around to get to pool, food, mug refill, etc. don't want to have to drive to refill my mug.

POFQ would be my second choice.

How much time do you plan to spend at the parks vs hanging out at the resort? That's our deciding factor. If we plan to spend all day (nearly) every day in the parks - or otherwise away from the resort - we stay value. But if planning a more laid-back vacation with time to hang at the resort, we do moderate. No need to spend the extra $$ on the resort and amenities if you aren't going to be there except to sleep.

Enjoy your vacation!

I'd have to go with POFQ, a mod.... FW cabins in my mind is overkill ... Too much room, too much money, too much traveling internally and to the parks ....

POFQ, compact small mod... Good bus service, good food court nice theme and the boat ride to DTD is like an attraction all in its own...and they have queen beds...!

We are staying 8d/7n with 5 day park tickets. 1-AK, 1-HS, 1-AK and 2-MK. Hotel time would be arrival day (ADR at T-Rex), 1/2 day we do MNNSHP and our departure day. So technically, 2 1/2 days.

Considering the ages of your kids, I would suggest French Quarter. It is very compact, so no matter where you stay, the walk to anywhere is a short one. The QS restaurant is very good, with plenty of different options to choose from. My DGD loved that pool! It is not too big, has plenty of supervision (although the same can be said for every resort pool that I have experienced) and she was not overwhelmed by any part of it. Plenty of life vests in small sizes as well.

The resort is also beautiful, with lovely walkways that are powerwashed each morning, and which resemble courtyards.

To be fair, most moderates cater to kid taste, but the sheer size of many of them was a overwhelming for me. POFQ is small enough to make any task with the kids an easy one.

Thank you! It's such a tough decision. POFQ was my first choice.
Hopefully there will be rooms available.

Okay, now I'll tell you that last trip we stayed at the BC, CL. My DGD asked if we could take a fiels trip back to POFQ to show her Pa her favorite resort. WE also had to have lunch there so she could continue her trip down memory lane. It really is a lovely resort. Good luck getting rooms!

Also, don't bother paying more for a view. All of teh rooms have outside corridors, so there really is nto much of a view from teh room. Now the grounds are a different story. I used to sit with my coffee on any one of the benches scattered about the resort.

With age of your kids I would either stay at POP, great resort for young kids OR I would look at POFQ, maybe POR. POFQ has a smaller footprint so easier to get to bus etc, a very charming theme pool for young children and the boat to DTD. And you will get the regular DDP. (and I agree don't pay for view)

I would not go to the cabins. The real plus for them is the full kitchen and if you are on the DDP you have no use for it. You can not drive everywhere in the campground, you have to take the internal bus. You can only park your car at your cabin. When we stayed the trip to the MK was walk down the road to a bus, catch a bus, walk to the boat dock, ride the boat. It was a pain. We drove to all the other parks after that.

Thank you so much for your comments. Looks like PORFQ is in the lead. I can't help it, I'm tossed up between PORFQ and CBR! I LOVE the beach and the setting just really appeals to us.

We are also booked at Pop and are looking to upgrade to a mod. CBR is our front runner at the moment. All of the pictures of that resort are just so beautiful!! And the pool looks amazing!

I know!! I can't tell you how many hours I've spent comparing. Reviews say things are too far away from each other, etc and PORFQ is a small, quaint place and great for small kids like mine. But sitting in a hammack with a glass of wine..........sorry, I was there doing it in my mind and forgot what I was saying!:rotfl2:

I wonder why they are the only mod not to have queens, but doubles. That's the other thing that is a con for me.

What are your dates? We're going 10/26-11/2. I know it sounds awful, but I want the summer to go by fast!

The double beds are a con for me, but we survived them at Pop last time, so I know we can do it again :thumbsup2

The size does scare me a little, but I'm hoping to get the room I request. Another con for POFQ is I highly doubt I can get the free dining there. I've kinda accepted it and moved on....lol. I do LOVE the theming at CBR though. My kids love POTC and I know they are going to love the pool. I am also traveling with my inlaws and I think they will appreciate CBR as well.

We will be there 10/2-10/10. I was there your dates in 2011 and the weather was AMAZING!! 70's almost every day! It was perfect :cool1:
