What MK ride do you make a mad dash towards?

I'm trying very hard not to go commando style this year over Thanksgiving, but I'm wondering which rides to go to first. I have a DS 9 who loves thrill rides and a DD almost 7 who is a big chicken (but tall enough for all the big rides). My chicken says she will try Splash Mountain this year. I think the first day we'll go to MK will be Sunday which is an early entry day at MK. Should we dash over to Splash Mountain first thing or should I warm her up at Fantasy Land?

As a side question, which ride do you make the mad dash towards when you go to WDW on EE day? If we do Fantasy Land we will probably do Dumbo first then the race cars if they are open.

I think it depends on the children and their tastes and ages...

Our DDs are still young; 4 and 7 and we still run to Fantasyland first for Dumbo and Pooh (fastpass).

But the older one likes Splash Mountain and Space Mountain and as the younger one gets older, they may be a priority. For now, it's still Fantasyland first thing. Then the mountains later.

At your kids ages, maybe you should do the mountains first??

Good luck!

Just make sure you don't eat a huge breakfast before you ride. I did one time and the first ride we went on was the Tea Cups. What a mistake! I thought I was going to lose that whole breakfast. I vowed that I would not do something like that again. I'll go on faster rides later on in the day when the food has digested.

It as been my experience that they all will still be there when I get there after I amble along and check out the scenery and watch those "crazy" people making a mad dash to the rides.

Just not into commando style, I guess. I love MK first thing in the morning when it is relatively quiet and peaceful. I sit on a bench and just soak it all in. What a wonderful place!

I'm with you, Goofy - (great handle, by the way). I guess that's one of the blessings of going during the off-season. Not only do I not have to make a mad dash, but I oftentimes don't even bother getting up early (especially if I happen to have been at Pleasure Island or The Boardwalk the night before).

that said, if I WAS going to do the whole mad-dash thing, I think I'd probably wind up trying to hit Peter Pan and/or Winnie The Pooh (and Dumbo, if i was so inclined, although that falls into the "never rode it, not all that interested" category).

The mountains DO get lines, but here's my reasoning: The queing areas for Peter Pan and Winnie are, basically, just winding and sort of boring. Not a whole lot to look at. The mountain ranges - especially Splash and Space - at least have interesting areas in which to wait (although my favorite might well be over at IOA... I really love the que for Dueling Dragons).

My family heads for Buzz Lightyear. We try to ride multiple times by getting Fast Passes, asn also hitting it when the lines are short (we usually go off season)

I have always made the dash for Space Mountain but have found myself occasionally heading for Splash Mountain.:p

At Magic Hour, I head for Peter Pan first, then Pooh, then over to Buzz Lightyear.

On non-MH days or at rope drop, I book it straight for the Haunted Mansion. I have to since it would be rude of me to keep 999 ghosts waiting.:jester:

I've learned that trying to do any park at WDW commando style just does not work for me. Prior to going, I figure out what parks (I usually split up the day between 2 parks) I want to go to, then decide which attractions/shows are the absolute musts and note these in my PassPorter. I always hit my musts and then do as much of the others as I can, but if I miss some, then I can always hit it the next trip. I also decide where I want to dine while I am there and make PS times for these.

We usually try to do two EE days at MK. On the first one we head straight to Fantasyland and get on Dumbo. (If ever a ride needed fastpass, this is the one!). The second day we concentrate on Tomorrowland first - maybe Space Mountain first if we were feeling up to it, or maybe Astro Orbiter. This trip I think we'll hit the Speedway pretty early since we've been hit with some nasty lines there.

When my son was little it was Fantasyland and Dumbo.
Now that he's 10, its Tomorrowland and Buzz or Speedway.

My first morning in MK, I allways run for Splash Mountain. Then I go right to BTMRR.

I don't know if you are aware that only rides in Fantasyland and Tomorrowland are open during EE. So you'll definitely be able to warm her up in FL and be ready to head to Spl Mtn when it opens at regular park hours.

If we go first thing in the morning then we head straight to Buzz Lightyear, if we wait until the afternoon to arrive then we go to the Pirates first.

We go left instead of right, and walk on everything in Adventure Land. After that we just start utilizing Fast Passes. Also - if they have E-Ride night - it's worth it so you can ride the 3 mountains over and over if you wish and do not have to worry about those lines during the day.

But, I have the same situation - one adverturer, and one chicken. All I can say is that Kid Swap is the best. :D
