i am hopefully coming out for a week in september.

i would to go to mgm but i am unsure what restaurant to dine at.

i am a young girl with no children!

any suggestions?

thanks

If your looking for an elegant meal try The Brown Derby.
For a more relaxed and fun restaurant have a meal at the 50's Prime Time Cafe. These are two of my favorite places to eat.

Have a great time at WDW.

50's Prime Time has the BEST fried chicken!

Mama Melroses is wonderful, with excellent food and great service.

As a single I'd prefer Mama Melroses.

Avoid the ABC Commissary.....it was awful, at least in my opinion.

We went in, and besides being crowded, the food just wasn't good in flavor or quality. We wound up just giving up and getting a snack somewhere else.

Maybe someone else has had a good experience, but I'd say pass it up.

IMO, all the MGM full serve, sit down restaurants are very good. Sci Fi does get mixed reviews on the boards but we have always had good meals there, but we do stick to the burgers, onion rings and sandwiches and of course desserts!
For a fancier meal/more expensive meal, I love Brown Derby. We always have good food there.
For flatbreads, and Italian dishes I really like Mamas.
For good old fashioned home cooking/comfort foods with a lot of fun added in, you can't beat Prime Time.
And for when you just want to chow down on decent drive in food/excellent desserts and experience a very unusual restaurant atmosphere, Sci Fi is perfect!
Just pick which atmosphere and type of food you are in the mood for and you can't go wrong. All the MGM sit down restaurants are very unique and a lot of fun.

thank you all so much for your kind advice and reviews of the mgm restaurants. i will probably only be spending a day there - so i will be spoilt for choice!

Another vote for Mama Melrose's. Although the reviews on this board is pretty mixed we've had 2 fabulous meals there 2 years in a row. The service is great, as is the food, and the prices are very reasonable.

Sci Fi is good, but I would feel a little funny about sitting in one of those cars by myself...but that's just me.

I vote for Mama Melrose's or the Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater. We used to like the Brown Derby until I found a long hair in my Thai Noodle Bowl on our May, 2003 trip. It was so gross, and I was obviously not going to eat any more of it after that. Our server was nowhere to be found for most of the meal, and when she did finally show back up she didn't get me a new one and didn't take the meal off the bill! We won't be going back there ever:mad:

We've had good food at both Mama Melrose's and the Sci-Fi, and I'd gladly go back to either.

Another vote for the Hollywood Brown Derby. The restaurant is very elegant and the food is wonderful.

I was not impressed with the Brown Derby - our service was less that attentive and the food was good but not awesome. I will not eat there again - except maybe just for a salad or dessert & drink type thing.

Sci Fi is an experience worth doing once.

Prime Time is also fun. I have never been to Mama Melrose.

Ditto.

Prime Time is my favorite, but Mama Melrose's is great also. Haven't ever been to Sci-Fi, but I've heard great things from the people I know that have been there.

We loved the Brown Derby. I think our server could have been more attentive, but often when they are, I feel smothered, so it's six of one, half dozen of another....!
The food was excellent. We will definitely go back there when in MGM again.

chrissyk - you just cured my appetite for the Thai noodle bowl! A hair in my food is the end of the restaurant for me.

Another vote for Mama's.

50's Prime Time.....IMHO......AWFUL! Although our server was wonderful, the food was the WORST!!!! She even removed one meal from the bill because my DD just could not eat it. We will never do that again..

Sci-Fi.....good food, just way over-priced! And I didn't like that it was so dark in there.....you can't see your food in front of you.

We've never done Brown Derby, and have not desire to. We have a BD close to us here at home and to go there while at WDW just doesn't seem like vacation.

Well, for me it's pretty easy to pick a restaurant in MGM--I'm not a big fan of any of them, LOL! The best choice, IMHO, is to go to Mama Melrose's for a flatbread pizza. I found the food lacking at 50's PrimeTime, Brown Derby, and Sci Fi. Hollywood and Vine is good if you are looking for a buffet.

No way will we go back to the Brown Derby! I posted about the experience here on this board after we got back from our trip in May and the concensus was that the meal should have been removed from the bill. I was so grossed out, and pretty mad that our inattentive server didn't take the meal off the bill. I mean, I couldn't eat it with the big long hair in it, but I still had to pay for it:confused: BLECH!! Oh wait, they did give us a free dessert...I was just SO eager to eat something else from that kitchen at that point...NOT! Yup, no more Brown Derby for us:mad:

Either 50's Prime Time Cafe (our absolute favorite) or Mama Melrose! Both have great food and great service!
