...if we are going to split the day at AK, then go to MGM until they close. There will be 3 families, with 3-2yr. olds (not that it matters, because they are pretty well behaved kids...)

We have eaten at 50's PTC before, and wasn't that impressed. And, a few of us have tried the SciFi, but there weren't alot of choices.

I would love to hear any suggestions or comments!

Thanks!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I had a good casual dinner at Mame Melrose, their flatbread pizza was very good (and so was the wine;))

I also like H&V's lunch buffet. Been there twice at lunch and was very impressed with the food quality. But, don't know if they have the same food at dinner or not.

Either place is good for the kids. H&V has a neat ice cream bar and a kid's food bar as well.

I took my 4 yr old dd to Mama Melrose in December myself and she enjoyed it. She loves H&V at lunch because of the characters but they are not there at dinner.

We have always enjoyed Mama Melrose's - great food, nice atmosphere and it's a great place to take a break from the parks.

IF you plan to get there in time for lunch ... H&V if not the Mama Melrose (but if it were us I'd go to PTC, we love it)

Another vote for Mama Melrose.

We ate at Mama Melrose in December for lunch and it was pretty good. We also did breakfast at H&V and that was good, but not sure how dinner would compare. My vote, however, for the best MGM restaurant would be Brown Derby by far. They have incredible food from the appetizers to the desserts and the servers are some of the best we've had at any restaurant. It may not be the first restaurant you'd think of with 3 small kids, but we've seen plent of small children there and they all seemed like they were having a good time.

ITA with justthat---hands down the best restaurant in MGM is the HBD. Their service is good, and we have also seen tons of small children in there (doing just fine ;)). Plus, it will give the adults a chance to have some real adult food, not just the usual hamburgers and pizza.

we just got back yesterday. Stay away from MGM's "Toy story pizza planet" It was the worse meal we had and we are not picky.

We have eaten at Mama Melrose's twice and both times were pleased with our food. The atmosphere is also conducive to small children. The only restaurant we have ever been to at WDW that we will NEVER do again is Hollywood and Vine. The meal was horrible and the service was not there! We would have been better just getting a turkey leg and a coke. ICK!!!

We just returned from Disney on Friday. I am not a fan of the restaurants at MGM.

We did have lunch at Mama Melrose one afternoon. 3 adults, one child. 2 soup, shared salad and 3 small flatbread pizza's. The food was not bad and I would return. Total Lunch Bill $53.34

We also had dinner one night at Prime Time Cafe. Food also here was not that bad. DH Pot Roast, Me Meatloaf, GS Fried Chicken, and GD Chicken Fingers. I would also return to this restaurant. Total Dinner Bill $93.40.

In the past I have eaten at H&V, expensive cafeteria type food. Will not return.
Sci-Fi expensive bland burgers. Will not return.
Pizza Planet, ok for kids, I say yucky. Will not return.

Our new favorite MGM restaurant is Prime Time. It has great food, a wonderful atmosphere and the servers are fantastic!!!

I think Mama melrose is the worst sit down meal at the world. Very flavorless and I'm not picky. I love The Brown Derby. It is in my top 5 at the world. Try the Grouper if you like fish.

We like Mama Melrose, too. The food is tasty, simialr to an upscale chain restaurant. It is cool and quiet inside, and our service has always been pleasant. It is a nice break in the day.

We also LOVE 50's Primetime, but to each his own. For dinner, I would then recommend Mama Melrose. Our DD says they have the best spaghetti, ever!

If you are going to be there for lunch, I would go to Hollywood and Vine... the characters there are wonderful, the buffet is huge, well stocked with a great variety of selections.

Other than Sci Fi, we have never been disappointed with a full service restaurant in MGM... in fact, of all of the Disney parks, we like their full service restaurants the best!

is for Hollywood Brown Derby. It's our favorite restaurant at MGM. We don't have kids so I'm not sure how kid friendly it is. I'm sure it would be fine because you said they were well behaved kids. Delicious food!

We hated the Sci-Fi - nice idea and atmosphere but the food was so nasty and dried up. And the price for that mess...yuk!

Mama Melrose is pretty good. I'd call it our second favorite.

Never tried Hollywood & Vine. We need to do that.

Another vote for Hollywood Brown Derby. They do have a children's menu and when DH and I were there in May of 2001, we saw several children in the restaurant doing just fine! :D

Last time we ate at the Brown Derby, we were seated next to a table with parents and several kids. We couldn't help but notice that the kids were not at all impressed... in fact, bored may be the appropriate word. With all of the other options, I think with kids, this one would be my last.
