Here is something for you to think about.

Say you are being evacuated from your home for one reason or another and you are allowed to bring 5 things with you. What 5 things would you take? Use the mindset that you will more than likely lose everything else.

Of course children or other people don't count, and neither do pets because I don't want people like me with a lot of pets having to chose between them!

Now, take some time to think about your life and what means the most to you :)

Everything else can be replaced.

1. Personal photos/videos/DVD's of wedding and kids
2.. My jewelry armoire with all jewelry
3. Cuckoo clock my parents bought me in the black forest
4. Insurance/other important papers
5. Christening dress made from my mother's wedding gown which my sisters and I wore, and all of my kids and sister's kids wore.

That was a tough question.

Honestly, I can't think of anything but insurance and personal documents.

When I was 11 years old our house burned to the ground...it was two weeks after Christmas. We were away for the weekend and we lost everything...truly everything. All we had left were the clothes on our backs, the money in our pockets and our family car.

What I learned is that you can replace almost everything (even pictures). Not having those personal and insurance documents makes it much, much harder to replace those things...not impossible but way more difficult.

We learned later on that it was arson...someone was exacting revenge on a person who happened to have the same name as my father. We found this out about a year later when that man had his summer home set on fire by a former "business" associate.

aprincessmom.. what a sad thing to happen when you are so young :( You were all lucky that you weren't home.

Did they catch the guy when he did it to the other guys summer home? I hope he spent a long time in jail.
