What makes your town unique?

Absolutely nothing...we are the same small town that appears thousands of times across the United States....
One traffic light.
One grocery store.
One pizza shop.
Two convenience stores with gas...across the street from each other.
A square where kids loiter in front of the no loitering sign.
A laundramat.
Two garages where if you forget your checkbook, just come back when you have it.
A bank.
Three churches.
Pretty much everyone knows everyone.

We are Constitution Town. In 1952 Olga T. Weber decided that we were taking our Constitutional rights for granted and petitioned to have Constitution Day recognized. For one week in September, we celebrate Constitution Day with a parade, festivals, balloon lift-offs, marathons, speeches, dedications, and a pageant where a Constitution Queen and court are selected.

We have a Mustard Museum. It's been on the Food Network a few times. We also have lots of wooden trolls throughout the downtown area (which is like a foot long) that the tourists like to have their pictures taken with. :p

:confused3 we have a huge landfill in Niagara Falls that they'll tell you are "hills" ........they're not.

we have that little waterfall too, but that's about it. our town is pretty crappy other than that.

We have a generous supply of tarantula's, rattlesnakes and scorpians.

This has been fun to read!

My town is known as being the "oldest/first resort town in America" . We have real natural hot springs, which run off a mountain and old bath houses which are still open to the public.

Also we have a Jockey Club with horse races 3 months of every year.

The races and our Historic "Bath House Row" make it a nice tourist area but not too crowded or big to live in. :thumbsup2

Wow! Some of these are pretty good!

Celebration, Florida - the town that :tinker: Disney built.

Hmm...we're the home of toasted ravioli, gooey butter cake, and pork steaks, and the ice cream cone, peanut butter, and 7-Up were all invented here. :thumbsup2

And apart from being the newly-annointed Most Dangerous City in America  , I really love this place. I grew up in a heavily sports-oriented family (my 1st baseball game was an A's game when I was 6 months old and it was Dad's day to babysit :teeth: ), and I love the way the people around here genuinely rally around our teams, like how every Opening Day of the baseball season is practically a holiday, the streets around Busch filled with red-clad people hours before gametime (ditto with all of the recent playoff games, and don't even get me started on the half-million people who turned out for the victory parade the Sunday after the Cards won the World Series).

I also love that the Irish branch of my family immigrated to St. Louis over 150 years ago, although they lived in an area that was actually mentioned in a guidebook at the time as having residents whose chief amusements included punching out each other's eyes.

The Mummer's Day Parade. Oh dem golden slippers! Do the mummers strut :cool1: :dancer: party:

We're the home of the Kentucky Derby (and the Breeders Cup last week), baseball bats, they say "Happy Birthday to You" was written here and the cheeseburger was invented here, there are about 40,000 ways to say our city's name (but only one right way ;))..... I'm sure more fellow Louisvillians on the board can tell you more! :cheer2:

We have a pagoda... randomly on the side of a mountain in deciduous forest land PA... but seriously - my friends from other places don't believe there is a pagoda - but you can see it from pretty much anywhere when you start getting near the city.. it's not huge - it's just a bright red pagoda on the side of a dominantly green mountain

There are some nice traditions with it.. my personal favorite is that every Christmas Eve at 9pm for 5 minutes they flash the Pagoda lights because that's when Santa is flying over us :) When it snows on Christmas Eve it really is a magical moment :)

Because you have to set your clock back 25 years when you enter the city limits.

I think I saw this! We were on our way back from York to Philly a couple of weeks ago & I thought I saw a pagoda in the mountain. I was wondering what that was doing there, not sure if I should believe my eyes or not. Don't remember the road we were on though, but that must have been it. What a coincidence.

Hmm...Buffalo

We're so darn close to Niagara Falls that we don't even consider it all that amazing
Canada isn't another country, what are you talking about?
We spit out the Goo Goo Dolls
We make the best damn chicken wings in the country...and do us a favor and don't call them Buffalo wings, that's just weird. ;)

And most importantly...hell-llo...? Buffalo Bills. Ever heard of them? Just the best damn football team in the world!
