Last night's candy-fest got me thinking about over-eating in general. My downfall is boredom. I eat more when I'm not keeping busy. DH's is sweets. What's yours?

Boredom but lately stress also. Plus just bad habits of say snacking while watching tv.

Stress and emotions, sometimes boredom. At night if I'm watching TV I have to do something to keep my hands busy or I'll start snacking.

Hunger. I over eat when I'm hungry. I try to have some sort of protein handy, that helps. But if I'm super hungry, anything goes!

Putting too much on my plate.

I was raised to eat everything on the plate - and it has stuck.

omg! Me too! But emotional eating is it. I've been doing great the past month, and last night my DH was in a snit, so next thing I knew there I was eating the Halloween candy. Ugh

I absolutely CAN'T resist certain foods. Chocolate...forget it. No really, forget that you even saw it earlier in the day, because it's already gone. I ate it. Oreos are the same way as are Doritos. And of course I also eat out of boredom.
One thing I do not do is stress eat. I'm the opposite. When we were renovating our house last year our builder was a real jerk and we had a lot of trouble with him showing up to the job. We went four months and thousands over budget. I've never fit so well in my jeans. :P

I over eat because I like food. If it's there and I want it, I eat it. Sometimes I will eat just because I'm bored, but not so much anymore.

I don't stress eat. As someone else mentioned above, stress actually makes me NOT want to eat.

My problem is the close proximity of our kitchen.. ok "Refridgerator" from the family room! In our downsize we went with an open concept combo Kitchen/Family Rm/Counter sitting area. We are seniors, and the line of thought was to be closer to.. things.

DH is the worst offender we never use to eat in the family room except for popcorn with a movie. Now everytime I turn around he's in the kitchen area looking for something to snack on. I try not to join in the activity but it's hard. We have talked about putting up a wall but I don't know. We've added a new piece to our decor; A brand spankin' new ellipical trainer. It's even the same colour scheme as the family room. ;)

Anyway that's my "other" excuse. :rolleyes1

When the food "hits the spot" it's hard to stop.

Eating on "auto-pilot", like when we're out to dinner with people and caught up in the conversation or eating at my desk while I work, or in the evening while watching TV. I eat waaaaay more than I need when I'm not being mindful. I try to avoid it by only serving myself a modest portion (like for lunch at work or an evening snack).

Boredom and high blood sugars. If I ate within the past 3 hours and am getting physically hungry, it's almost certain that my blood sugar is in the 200s. Surprisingly, I have issues eating enough when I am really stressed.
