I am very sick right now (flu symptoms), I went to the ER last night and they sent me home... I have been feeling miserable all day.... DBF brought me home from Gatorade and chicken noddle soup.. then he has been catering to me all afternoon, he is great... so now I am on the couch with my pillow and blankets and just had a frostie from Wendy's... now I feel a bit better... oh and I have been calling my mom all day and crying to her saying I wish I knew what was wrong....

So what makes you feel better when you are sick

Last time I was sick I had lemon in hot water with honey, it was very nice and soothing, but refreshing at the same time. DH caters to me too when I am sick. It's nice when you don't have to worry about anything except getting better.

I like to warm some water on the stove and add it to Alka Seltzer Plus cold tablets (the plop plop fizz fizz kind). I use the regular flavor, which is lemony, not the orange or cherry which I find hard to get down. Between the warmth of the heated water and whatever magic is in the Alka Seltzer, I usually feel much better very soon.

Theraflu is similar in a pinch, but I prefer the Alka Seltzer.

It's a soft cotton bag filled with deer corn. I heat it in the microwave and keep it either on my feet or around the back of my neck. The corn smell is so comforting. It's a real treat.

Peanut butter and jelly on toast "fingers" (each slice of bread cut into 5 equal pieces). My gram used to make it for me when I was sick as a kid, and it still does the trick :)

It all depends on what is ailing me...when I had morning sickness, it was grilled cheese and Lipton Chicken Noodle Soup (from a packet). If I've gotten over the stomach flu, I usually like a plain turkey sandwich on soft white bread or plain turkey sub from Subway. If it is from drinking a few too many martinis, it is a vanilla shake and double cheeseburger (plain) from McD's. When I get a migraine, it is Excedrin migraine, Diet Coke, and one of those microwaveable heat packs I then put over my eyes.

I gotta say I just got over flu-like symptoms and pneumonia a month ago and nothing was making me feel better. I did have an IV that made me feel better but otherwise I was miserable. I am such a whiney-baby.

Ramen noodles. Either chicken or shrimp flavor. They are so salty and I never ever eat them. It is my one sick junk food but it makes me feel better when I am sick.
ETA- I also drink tons of green tea with honey. Honey is a healer.

I always have a soda with the fizz (coke or pepsi) soup and LOTS OF SLEEP!!!

mcdonald's french fries and a seven up/ sprite kind of drink w/ lots of ice. prefer a gingerale.

I was ENDLESSLY sick from October through to May this year and the only thing that made me feel better was a cup of tea and sleep.

That said, I had a spectacular stomach bug and spent the weekend on the can (lost 8lb in 48 hours :woohoo: :sad2:) and the only thing that made me feel better was two days later when I virtually crawled to the store and bought Powerade and regular Coke. Regular coke is VILE but it did the trick :thumbsup2

Do you guys have Heinz tomato soup out there? It's wonderful. It cannot be replicated. It's the ultimate 'sick' food.

That's what I was going to say - regular, not diet Coke. Maybe it's because I don't ever drink it when I'm not sick, but sipping on that, with a few saltines, helps me. I think it's the sugar, and the small amount of caffeine helps a headache.

First of all, I hope you get better soon! It's nice that your BF is taking such good care of you.

When I'm sick I like drinking something hot, hot tea, hot chocolate, bouillon, coffee, etc. So it's nice when DH brings that to me so I don't have to get up and get it myself. And if I have a sore throat I love popsicles too.

This actually sounds yummy and I don't have an appetite.. I will have to make some and see how it does...

Thank you all for sharing your sick fix remedies...

I am feeling a bit better today..Gatorade and some chicken soup last night helped a bit...

drink lots of water, get lots of sleep and watch some old musicals like "singin' in the rain" or "anchors aweigh" - that always works for me.

hope you get better soon

I usually crave either chicken noodle soup (that I make - I don't really like chicken noodle soup in a can as much) OR a turkey sandwich, vegetable soup, and milk (no milk if my stomach is upset, though). :)

Gingerale helps me a lot, too.

Hope you feel better soon!
