What makes Space Mountain better now (than a few years back)?

So I read somewhere that Space Mountain at Disneyland was vastly improved, I think a few years back. (Sorry, fuzzy on details.)

I haven't been to DL for about 7 or 8 years. Can anyone tell me how SM was improved? Or did I misunderstand something?

Anyway, just curious. I'll find out for myself in about a month. :yay:

A much better sound system, improved lighting/effects, and it also seems to be a smoother ride.

They improved the launch sequence (way better), the ending sequence effects (way better), and they made the ride darker (which also made it better). This is in addition to the sound and lighting improvements already discussed.

It is debated whether the ride is smoother. The pulled out all the track and rebuilt it and so the smoothness should not have changed.

For what it is worth, my very unscientific rear end/ neck/ back detection unit thinks the re-built ride is smoother.

Keep in mind that my, also very unscientific, tongue thinks that ice cream eaten on Main Street tastes better than anywhere else on the planet. Same thing goes for the popcorn and fudge.

Yup they did all that in 2006. But I'm getting old, destroyed my hearing, and can't tell the difference beyond the line is longer now :rotfl2:

I believe it actually reopened july of 2005. We were there and the line was crazy!!!! But I like the improvements!
