What Make Up Counter?

I have always wanted to have my make up done at one of the counters in the dept. stores. I have an event coming up and I want my make up to look great, I just don't feel like I can apply it to look great. I wear the normal stuff each day just not foundation.

Can anyone let me know their experiences -

I am also looking for a new skin care, something to reduce wrinkles, since I am in my 40's

clinique used to do the "make up" for customers, but then they will try to sell you everything under the sun, so be prepared.......

Personally, you should consider using your own makeup that your skin is accustomed to and perhaps have someone you know (or like their make up applications) and they can do it for you?
I think many of those counter dept store, try and over do it a bit...their goal is to use product and sell it, not give a free make up session for customers with parties

MAC - BUT be sure to let them know you don't want to look like a pole dancer (unless of course that is the look you are going for)
Of all the counters, they IMO, are the best educated at makeup applications and overall look. IMO skin care is a totally different venue and product line.
It used to be that MAC would do your makeup for the cost of a lip pencil and/or lipstick.

I love the Clinique girls-- I've actually never found them to be overly pushy about selling products. Plus, they have a great make-up and skin care line, so they should be able to help you out on both fronts.
I think MAC makes you buy 4 products now with a make-up application.
Sephora is also a good idea-- although I'd make sure I'd go during a non-busy time. The one time I had them do my make-up was on a Saturday and they (understandably) rushed through it and didn't do a good job.

Too bad you don't live in SoCal. My daughter would do it for you!! She's a make-up artist. She used to work for MAC, so she would say there. Most of her makeup is MAC.
