Hi Barb!

Here's some of things we do each cruise. This will be our 3rd & all have become traditions in our household~

Order flowers for the room - looks & smells great when you walk in!They last almost the whole cruise.

We always get a family portrait done on formal night & at Castaway Cay, with the ship behind us. We put them on our portrait wall upstairs & they make us smile whenever we walk by.

We purposely dress up every night for dinner, as there is such little occasion to do so in every day life... It really makes it special. All other vacations we take are strictly shorts & bathing suits, so we look forward as a family to doing this. I know your husband has issues with this... ( Mr. No pants...!), but we find it to be fun~ especially formal night. My daughter lives in jeans & soccer clothes so she really enjoys dressing up on the cruise.

Our cruise fun starts beforehand. We go down to the city to shop for the cruise. We stay over, see a show, shop & have brunch or high tea at the Plaza before we go home. We just returned from our weekend & are really excited for our cruise to come!

My daughter has "Mickey Mitts" she received as a gift. We bring them & bubbles for the sailaway. She waives back at the DCL Mickey Mitt ladies at the terminal, as we leave the Port. It really gets their attention!

I just found out that the special thing that my husband does it to try and lose me...so he doesn't get slated for a spa treatment. He's a crafty devil...

One thing that I've started doing for myself is to do at least one thing just for ME (such as a spa treatment). This year I did the massage and facial and last year I did the seaweed wrap. It's just so pampering and relaxing!!

A new tradition that we've decided to start is to make a point of eating dinner and brunch at Palo. It's such a great experience. The food, service, and atmosphere is great!!

Amen to the mug....could not have made it through the cruise without it, and yes, it was always filled with beer.....Andy

We ordered roses, kid's bubbly and glasses from Shirley at A Perfect Gift, plus presents for the kids and young adults (Shirley will try to fulfill the most obscure request). We bought champagne (a really good one) at the liquor store before boarding. We got to our cabins, opened the gifts (hard because of no pocket knife!), popped open the bubblies and toasted. We took our plastic glasses up to the deck, opened soap bubbles (leftovers from New Year's), blew bubbles of soap and champagne and grape juice, and watched as the ship pulled out. We stood on deck 10, out of the din of the sail-away party. It was lovely.

I rented my DH a tux without letting him know (until it was delivered to the stateroom). Next year I'm getting tuxes for my DS' (10,13) also. Can't wait.

Barb - I don't think you could go wrong with A Perfect Gift gift basket, some bubbly, and some bubbles. One other idea is to take the bubbly, your honey and hit the secret overlook deck. With the moon shining down on the ocean...it's a peaceful and romantic place!

I rented a limo from our hotel to port The best part is that my BF doesn't know about it...I even set it up so that the company will call and let him know that "his limo is ready." I can't wait to see the look on his face!
