What laundry detergent do you use?

We have a front load washer and I have always used tide but it's pricey. What kind do you use? And if you have used tide how does it compare? Thanks just trying to cut the budget anyway I can!

We use All Free and Clear.

I've tried Tide in the past and aside from being :scared1: expensive, it has a very strong scent and soaped too much for my HE machine (even with the HE detergent).

We use Purex. It's pretty cheap. But I'm not sure it compares well to Tide. Kids and I both break out terribly with Tide, but I understand it cleans the best.

Hi, I use TIDE HE Sport, but I only use about HALF the recommended amount for a full load. I usually purchase it at Target when it is on sale (like this week) and I have a coupon. :) Joan

We use Arm & Hammer. It's $8 for 96 loads, and it comes with a pour spout instead of a push buttom spout which I've come to prefer with my front loader. A lady at work who is picky about clothing for herself and her children told me she used it, so I decided to give it a try. It is cheaper than the Wal-Mart store brand. Before having kids I used Gain, then my son was allergic to Gain (we used Dreft for the first year). I switched to All Free and Clear for about 6 years. Then, I switched to Era for about a year, and finally for the last year I've been using the Arm & Hammer. I plan to stick with the Arm and Hammer as it is the best value for the product (that I've found).

I use whatever brand I can find cheap (I usually use SUN or a brand called ULTRA, they might be a store's generic one, I'm not sure, otherwise I buy the Walmart Brand detergent). I also only use 1/4 cup per load, which is probably half or less than what is recommended. I have a top loader.

I make my own for our front loading washer. Fels Naptha, washing soda and borax. Works terrific! I also use white vinegar for softener. Had to switch from TIDE and Downy when dd was diagnosed with eczema. She grew up, moved out and but STILL use that! :thumbsup2

Tide. On sale with coupon. Tried Gain, Cheer (prefer Cheer's scent) and a few others. DH is at construction sites all day and Tide works best for our dirt.

I like Sears brand detergent. I prefer the powdered variety (HE), but it also comes in liquid. The powdered is less expensive per load. The normal price is $24 for 180 loads, but it goes on sale for around $15 or $16 a couple of times a year.

You can buy it online, but the shipping charges are high. I buy it in the store. Very odd, but it's sold in the hardware department. :confused3

I can get away with the cheaper brands in the winter months when the kids aren't playing soccer, lacrosse or running cross country. But when they are out in the dirt and grass and mud all day there is nothing that cleans as well as Tide. In the winter when there is snow and they are either inside or in snowpants, I can use Purex or whatever is on sale.

We always use Tide HE Cold Water and use about half of what is recommended in our front loader.

Oxyclean helps a lot too. You could try throwing in a scoop of that with whatever detergent you use. During lacrosse, I have to use Oxyclean and Tide.

I usually buy all, gain, tide, or wisk. Depends on what i have a coupon for and what cvs or wags has on sale. But Wisk is by far my favorite!!! I have tried arm and hammer but I don't like it at all

Whatever I can get the best deal on among Tide, Gain, Cheer, All, Arm and Hammer, Purex, Wisk and probably a couple more I'm missing. I rarely pay more than $3. I don't care for Sun or another cheap one in a big bottle (can't remember name). I keep a tub of generic Oxyclean and throw in a scoop for towels and things that are real dirty.

There was a $2 Tide coupon two or three weeks ago. That and a sale will give you a pretty good deal on Tide.

Tide is about the only thing we are 100% brand loyal to. I am allergic to many other detergents.

Kroger had the 32 load containers for $4.99 the past few weeks, with $2 off coupons, we bought 12 for $2.99 each. We won't need detergent until 2013 now.

We use Tide Free HE and only enough to cover the cap. Way less than is recommended. The detergent lasts a long time. We also use a small amount of Colorx2 HE with the detergent and then vinegar for the fabric softener.

I use whatever I can get the best deal on with coupons (of the major brands - not store brands) and have never had one complaint. I raised 2 boys, 1 girl and always pre-treated stains with Shout (or similar) and never had any problems with stains not coming out - also use cold water always. Have had a front loader for 11 years and just use less of whatever I have if it's not HE (I do not stick with HE only and have never had 1 issue with my washers).
