So I'm asking this based on what's happening to 2 girls I go to school with.

These 2 girls are bestfriends. And it all started with the one girl, we'll call her V. Well V told me last week that girls were "prank calling" people saying it was her and saying mean things. The things was, the girls were calling V's friends, which made no sense you know? And she was trying so hard to find out what it was, but couldn't. And then on Friday she posted a Myspace bulletin. Apparently someone made a fake myspace for her and the people are going around commenting REALLY mean things on other people's Myspaces. Also, they took their pictures, details, about mes, everything. And now, her bestfriend L has a fake Myspace too! And people are doing the same thing! They have an idea as to who could be doing it...

If they found out who the people are that are doing this, how much trouble could they get into? Should they bring it to the attention of the school or the police?

Thanks for the help! :)

i think they should bring it to the attention of the school because it could be classified as harrassment

depends on what they write
they may get in none

or they could end up in a lot

and your friends might get hit with all the blame too

i agree wit ^^^^ (srry i dont know your name) you should bring it to the school.

ETA: Not you Josh, wdwllamadancer...

This needs to be brought to the attention of
1) The school.
2) These girls' parents.

This could be considered harrassment and needs to be nipped NOW. The police could get involved, but they wouldn't prosecute a minor unless harm was indicated.
Look what happened with the Megan Meier case.

I would tell the school, who can tell the parents, and if they find that they need to can call the police.

It seems that these people are cyber bullying people using other people's names and information, which can turn bad very quickly.

They could get in a lot of trouble. The mean things they're saying could be to the point of harrasment or bullying.
Let the school know and/or parents before the best friends get in trouble..

I just found out that both parents of the girls know. And they're going to wait a little while to go to the school about it.

Would it be considered like identity theft or harassment? :confused3

At the moment I would say it's just harassment, but if they are going around in public and saying they are those people it could be seen as identity theft too.

::yes::

Shame on the parents who know and refuse to punish. It's people like them, they're the reason our youth is so messed up these days. :sad2:

Well I don't know how good your school is, my school does nothing about anything.

But the girl's parents should be informed. And if the school is helpful, sure the school.

what are some of the things they've posted?

megan meier?

what are some of the things they've posted?

Well they took their pictures and put like "Why am I so ugly? :(" as the picture comment.
Then they went to comment the girl's friends calling them REALLY BAD names. And they put mean stuff in the details. Like their occupations and stuff.

So bad, I can't write it :/

That's harrassment. They could get in trouble with the school if the school finds out.

COUNSELOR!!
Counselors can help. (Sorry, I'm not yelling, I just had a  moment)

well, where i live, thats considered harassment, and we can get suspended, or even expelled from school if you do stuff that is really offending to anyone.

if you do that kind of thing for any sports, then you can get a minimum of half of any season off the field.
