What kind of shoes do your teen girls wear at parks?

The most important thing is to just not wear anything new and it's probably a good idea to bring more than one option. If you plan on wearing flops every day, maybe bring another type of sandal or sneaker, etc.

Dd wears flip-flops for most of our visit. I just make sure she has good ones, like Tevas- not Old Navy ones. I also make sure she's broken them in a bit, and I bring some alternate pairs of shoes, gym shoes included.

My teenage girl wears tennis shoes.

Me, I wear sandals, because they look cuter when I'm wearing a sundress. But I learned the hard way that I need a bit of a lift in the arch - my very flat strappy black sandals left my calves aching by the end of the day. So now I (mostly) stick to my comfy walking sandals instead.

I'd say let your daughter wear what she usually wears. Tell her to pack a few pairs, so she has some choice. If she's 14 she's old enough to pick her own shoes, pack her own clothing, and deal with the consequences if she makes a poor decision.

I am 19 years old. Normally I never ever wear sneakers but I always get a cute pair with pretty colors and I either wear those, or Olukai flip flops. They come in all different colors and they are extremely supportive!

You inadvertently bring up a great point....support. Peoples feet, gait, stride, step, etc are different and different type of feet and step do better with different shoes. Not all Asics are the same, not all new Balance are the same, etc.

Some people do much better with a neutral shoe, or with a shoe that has less support. Some people would do better with a stability shoe (something that offers alot of support).

If you really want to know what type of shoe works best for your foot, go to a running store and have them examine your feet and the shoes you do most of your walking in now, try on a few pairs, let them see you walk and it will really help you figure out what's best for you.

My every day "sneaker" is a minimalist running shoe made by Merrell. It uses the same type sole on the 5 finger shoes and has virtually no support (very much a barefoot feel), BUT my feet are conditioned to them and I have spent time strengthening them for minimalist shoe running etc., certainly not for everyone.

I wore Aerosoles last year at the parks. I never wear sneakers and was looking for comfortable sandals to wear all day every day.

I recommend trying them on in the store and checking online for sales. The two pairs I tried on last year were going to cost $130 for both in the store and I ended up getting them both for $60 online.

They were very comfortable. The only issue I had was a little rubbing in certain spots after a couple of days, but it was nothing a bandaid didn't take care of. I would expect that even with sneakers.

DD14 is not a tennis shoe person. What kind of shoes should she wear for 4 park days in late May? She wears Rainbow flops, sandals, or flats every day at home. The Rainbows might work? Need another shoe to alternate with though.

The rest of us will wear tennis shoes every day.

Thanks for your advice!

I wear my rainbows when I walk in the parks and I've never had a problem.

At least I did. It's time to order a new pair :'(

Yep, I don't own tennis shoes per se. I wear Sanuks, either my yoga mat flip flops, or my loafer style Sanuk shoes. I used to wear crocs on occasion but the nubby stuff rubbed my feet after awhile, plus in rain they got SUPER slippery.

Volatile sandals, my daughters loves loves loves them. I bought a pair myself and they are quite comfortable.

My DD wears Tennis Shoes most of the day, and flip flops sometimes to stroll in the evenings. But she is used to wearing tennis or cleats everyday so it doesn't bother her.

On AK days, she wears her Tennis Shoes and packs a pair of Water Proof type flip flops (Tevas, etc.) to wear on Kali River Rapids!!

I see many kids, teens, etc wearing flip flops or sandals all day long......my feet would be screaming!!!

When I graduated high school my sister bough me a pair of Rainbows (I was 17). I have worn that same pair to WDW every trip since I got them and I don't want to wear anything else. I'm now 25 and my mother still yells about how I need to bring other shoes (which I do since we have been traveling to WDW in the fall/winter and the weather is so up in the air). But if I could I would wear my Rainbows every single day.

BTW, the other pair of shoes I bring are usually TOMS.

She knows what she is most comfy in and if it's her Rainbows then she will be fine :)

Whatever she is most comfortable in (which of course is most likely not what mom thinks is a good idea) she should wear. Trying to get her to wear anything other than what she prefers will only frustrate mom.:dance3:

Just have her bring 3-4 pairs of shoes. If she starts getting blisters in one pair, put a different pair on. I bring 2 wedges, one flat flip flop, and then my crocs athens. I'll mix it up, but if my feet hurt I wear the crocs. Never had any real problems. Well except for the time I didn't put sunscreen on my feet. That was a disaster I will never repeat. You can hate sunscreen, want to tan all you want, but getting a burn on the tops of your feet is a pain that you just do not want ever (let alone when you're walking 6 miles a day!)

My 14 year old DD and her BFF wore Old Navy flips pretty much the whole 6 days we were at WDW last fall- no complaints or blisters (I did have them use BodyGlide). DD also wore her Adidas athletic slides.

DD's friend did borrow my Crocs one evening- I was heading back to the room, and she and DD were hanging out at Epcot. She had worn some cheap flips that had a pancake flat leather sole with no cushioning at all and her feet were hurting, so we swapped shoes. I think she felt silly in "old lady" Crocs, but her feet felt good for the rest of the night!!

I second this!! Sometimes just switching out shoes day to day (or twice a day) really helps feet feel less tired.

I was 16 the last time I went, and I ALWAYS wear flip flops, I have never had any issues with it.

Some consider it dorky to wear tennis shoes?

My 12 year old does. :confused3 But I'm all for natural consequences so I let her pick her own shoes. She wore ballet flats and flip flops the entire trip and never complained about her feet like I did wearing my tennis shoes. Go figure. I think a lot of it has to do with foot shape. Some can tolerate flats like that and some can't.

I just asked my 16 year old this question.

We had to look up Rainbow shoes, because neither of us have ever heard of them! They look comfy. :)

She says flip flops-any kind, they don't bother her, Toms-she loves hers like crazy, and I would have to add from my end that last time I wore my yellow box sandals and those things are super comfy.
