We have a trip planned for Jan 05(DW wants to do the WDW marathon) and after all the planning stages we found out there will be a International Builders Show in Orlando around the same week. We have our pts figured in for the week we will be there but hope to stay at OKW during the extra unplanned days so DW and kids can stay at parks while I go to the show.

Bottom line: we never used DVC membership to take advantage of extra nights. If we were to stay say a Thurs Fri Sat nights, what would be the cost in $$s through DVC. Or is it less to pay cash through another resort with DVC membership.

Sorry in advance for the crazy questions:crazy: Seem like everytime I get this DVC figured out something new comes along for me to ask.

I'm not sure that I understand the question. If you are asking about paying cash for DVC rooms once you are a DVC member -- we get a discount of 25% off the rack rate "if" there is member inventory available. We don't get a discount at any other WDW resort.

The 2004 rack rates for OKW are Studio - $254; 1 Bedroom - $340; 2 Bedroom - $479; Grand Villa - $1,040. The DVC discount would be 25% off these price.

I think you still have to pay tax -- 11.5% on these prices.

Thats just the info. I was looking for. Looking forward to first trip to OKW.

You could probably save some money by having some points transfered into your account by another member. Then make the whole ressie for yourself.

Since they are looking for Thursday, Friday, Saturday, it might not be cheaper to rent points for transfer because Friday & Saturday are so high for points. I got the member discount for a 1 bedroom last May, it would have been 48 points each for Friday and Saturday. I paid $320 incl tax per night. That would be equal to $6.67 per point, so unless you can find rental points for less than that, you are better off with the member discount on weekends.

Also check with CRO to see if they have AP or Code discounts, there are sometimes less per night than the member discount.

Just a reminder that when you use the Member Discount you don't get daily housekeeping -- you stick with the DVC schedule. If you get a better price through CRO, you do get the daily housekeeping.

I was sorta figuring a studio at OKW at 9 and 20 points respectively. At $200.00 per night for weekends, I think that is not a bad price.
