What Kind of Park Bag?

Hi everyone,

We leave for Disney on August 15th and I just started to think about packing. I've spent hours today looking at some of the packing and organizing threads. Wow! TONS of great ideas!!!

Anyway, we are a family of 4 - two kids ages 15 and 9.

What do you reccomend to use as the "Park Bag?" My husband REFUSES to wear a Fanny Pack even though I've told him we'll never see these people again and I won't take any pictures.

What have you done in the past? Backpack? Don't you get sick of carrying it around --- In the August heat your back will get very hot!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

With kids that age you really don't need much! I just took a purse size canvas bag with strong shoulder length handles and a large outer pocket for my map, guide book.

May I also strongly suggest you institute the rule I did after the first day,

The whatever you leave the room carrying YOU carry back or it doesn't come back!!! If you don't you will become pack MOM!!! It was funny but after I said this and they realized I meant it they all made a trip back into the room and left stuff, and your youngest is older than mine was at the time. It was very nice to not haul a ton of stuff.

I just got a cheap sling backpack from Eddie Bauer. It's stylish and DH will actually carry it LOL! It's small but boy can you pack alot of stuff in it!

I got a bagallini for my last trip, and I love it!! You hardly notice the weight of it. Plus I figured it was time to retire my fanny-pack.

I have done the fanny pack and don't care what people think...it is hands free and can hold small items when I don't have pockets. Last year we found a very light cloth Disney bag that is similar to the string back packs and that is what we used for our last 2 trips. they hold everything & are light enough to not be a bother. They were in the Disney stores in Dec when we were there and they were fairly inexpensive. I also put my trading pins on it!!
