I'm just looking up a few recipes for three cookie exchanges that are coming up. I wondered what kinds of cookies others are making this year. I'm making:

Chocolate Rolo Cookies (with Dove chocolate instead of rolos)
Black Bottom Cream Cheese Cookies
Holiday M and M Cookies
Buckeyes
Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies

What's on your baking list?

We always make spritz cookies, but our oven doesn't work so we can't. :(

I love christmas cookies.....WE...my dh and i ......make

horns
schneckin
choclate nut roll
mint snowdrop cookies
butter balls
cherry cookies
fudge and there are a few i am not making this year

I am a chirstmas cookie lover....oh and a yule log

oh yummy thread!

Chocolate chip
Orange Drean
Peanut Blossoms (those are the ones with the hersheys kiss)
sugar cookies (that the kids can cut out and decorate)
Snickerdoodles
Black Bottoms (DHs absolute favorite)

This will be the first year DD can REALLY help with the traditional cookies (last year I sort of let her pretend to help). It is also the first year since my DS was diagnosed with an allergy to chocolate....since he's also still too young for anything with nuts (Doc wants him to be a minimum of 3, maybe older due to multiple other food allergies) I welcome any recipies for no chocolate, no nuts cookies.

So, as of right now, I am planning to do:
Peanut Butter Blossoms (for DH, DD and I)
Nut rolls (For DH, DD and I)
Apricot rolls (for DS)
Pumkin cookies...some with nuts and chocolate chips and some plain
Snickerdoodles for the whole family to enjoy
Sugar cookies for DD and DS (yuck!)
Holly Wreaths for the whole family

I also always make some cranberry/apple/nut bread.

Well, i was going to make some russian tea cakes, some molasses cookies and some snickerdoodles. Then I broke my leg :teeth: Thank goodness I already have some Christmas cut outs in the freezer and some thumbprint cookies made. I think the Pillsbury dough-boy is gonna be making the rest.

I am trying to make spritz tonight...for my first time!! I hope that the recipe is good...I remember them as a kid and they were great, but of course I have no idea where that recipe went to...so I pulled out my Pampered Chef cookie thing and used theirs. I only did a single batch so we can see how they are before I make more.

This year we are doing more candy making then cookies. My DD4 tonight asked to make gingerbread men so we might try that.

But here is the plan so far...

~Peppermint White Chocolate with Milk Chocolate bark
~Coconut Bon Bons (half with almonds)...I did those on Friday night...rolled over 200 balls! :rotfl2:
~Oreo Mint Chocolate Truffles
~Orea Chocolate Truffles
~Turtles
~Pretzels dipped in caramel, then chocolate and rolled in pecans. And some we will just do in caramel and chocolate.

I have my work cut out for me!

GOOD LUCK to everyone  . If my spritz stink I might be looking for a new recipe from you guys.

What's on your baking list?

I would love to have your Chocolate Rolo Cookie recipe, if you are willing to share.

I just started looking through the cookbooks today to get some recipes. So my list is pretty short so far.

Candied orange peel
Peanut Butter
Sugar Cookies

I've already made gingerbread men, but I'm sure I'll make sugar cookies before long also.

Fun story....I baked several sheets of gingerbread men. Then, on the last sheet, I used a knife to cut out a gingerbread girl and gingerbread boy that were about 10 inches tall. The expression on DD6's face when she saw the giant cookies that had 'grown' in the oven was priceless!

BTW, I tried a new icing on the gingerbread this year. I mixed powdered sugar with eggnog. It was yummy!

This year, we'll be making:

Coconut Macaroons (plain as well as chocolate-dipped)
Hazelnut biscotti (plain and chocolate dipped)
Chocolate chip (requested by kids)
Oatmeal raisin
Gingerbread
3 kinds of fudge (milk chocolate, mint chocolate and butterscotch)

Anyone got any good recipes for lemon or lime cookies? I'm looking to break up the chocolate I've got going. :)

My mom and I are baking on 12/16...a tradition that we used to have but haven't been able to do for a few years. I'm looking forward to it!

Our list so far:
Chocolate chip
Peanut blossoms
Molasses Crinkles
Viennese Walnut cookies
Orange drop cookies (my dh's mother's recipe...he will be thrilled to have these, as she passed away 11 years ago)

And I'll probably make some peppermint bark and some chocolate covered pretzels.

I am going to make some really yummy fruit cake cookies! So much better than fruit cake. Also will make the cut out sugar cookies and of course chocolate chip.

Candied orange peel
Peanut Butter
Sugar Cookies

I have a ROLO COOKIE RECIPE (makes two dozen)...

1/2 cup margarine
1/2 cup peanut butter
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1-1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt (optional)
24 Rolo Candies
Granulated Sugar

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cream together margarine, peanut butter, egg and sugars. Sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Gradually add dry indredients to the margarine mexture and mix well. Roll dough into balls. Place one Rolo in the center of each ball. Roll ball in granulated sugar and place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes.

THEY ARE NUMMY!

I usually attend a cookie exchange party, but this year I couldn't, so I will be making all my own. I went to the allrecipes site and found their top ten cookie recipes. From the site, I'm making

Raspberry and almond thumbprints
maple snickerdoodles
oatmeal raisin

And I always make mexican wedding cakes, butter cut outs, and creme wafers, with a side of toffee bars and puppy chow!

Someone else made them at a cookie exchange last year, I liked them so I called her for the recipe. I made them tonight, but I used Dove chocolate covered caramels because I couldn't find Rolos. The came out a bit flat...I think because the Dove chocolate is a bit softer to start with and it is flat. They taste good though! I did make a point of moving them from the cookie sheet right after they came out of the oven before the caramel had a chance to harden.

Black bottoms, yum! If they are what I remember and you are willing to share your recipe, I'd love to have it! DH and I had a funny conversation about this, he's Pennsylvania Dutch and when I was talking about my aunt making black bottoms (cream cheese and chocolate), he thought it had something to do with shoo fly pie. Apparently there's a huge difference between wet and dry bottom with shoo fly and you're either on one team or the other.

OK, I think I'm cookie impaired! I don't know what MOST of these cookies are?!? It's sad, really!

I'm going to a "cookie exchange" party this year, and I have NO idea what to bring, since I don't know anything beyond chocolate chip, peanut butter and sugar cookies!

I always WANT to make Christmas cookies, and we usually make up a batch of chocolate chip (and we always make pumpkin raisin bread), but I never know what the heck I'll do with them?! What do you all do with all of these cookies? We won't be around a lot of family this Christmas, so there's no "sharing" them, and I already make up the pumpkin bread to bring around to friends (I buy the cute little ceramic bread pans from Micheal's for $1 each). . . I would love a good reason to bake cookies, but I really can't have them just sitting around OUR house!!

Oh Henry Bars
Butterscothch Crunchies
Pistachio and cranberry Biscotti
Butter Tarts

First, let me say I am so impressed with all of you ladies and your baking acumen/activities! I think you are going to have some very happy friends and family.

I'm making snickerdoodles, gingerbread, and whatever else time permits. Ds will be breaking and baking a variety of Nestle/Pillsbury cookies. That's all he wants to do, break, bake and decorate.
