What kind of company would you start?

So after the State of the Union, I was thinking...I could be a CEO of a nice start up.

Would you take that risk and what would you do? (cust serv, mfg, etc)

We had been thinking of a tacky souvenir shop called The Screaming Pink Flamingo! Plush, plastic, jewelry, pictures, etc.; all of flamingos.

I wanted a restaurant for the longest time. I still think about it from time to time. But my kids are 1 and 14. I don't have the time to dedicate to a business that it needs. Right now, my family is more important to me. Maybe after both kids are out of the house.

I love to set up an active travel company like VBT or Running Vacations with an emphasis on European destinations.

I'd love to own a fancy cheese shop. I'd sell fancy cheeses and artisan bread!

The crazy ideas I have thought of at one time or another: Fitness studio, bakery, Irish imports. I love the idea of creating - working the long hours of a bakery though…not really. :lmao:

I make an amazing Bannana Pudding.....I am know in my circle of family and friends for it. I have often wished that I could start up a little company to sell it to restaurants.

I've thought about this a lot actually.

I would start a peanut/tree nut free sweet shop. It would be completely peanut and tree nut free (so safe from cross contamination).

Also, there would be egg free products as well (In addition to products with eggs)

I am allergic to peanuts (anaphylaxis) and to eggs adn am sensitive to tree nuts and I hate that most of the time, if something is peanut adn egg free, it is also vegan.

I make everything under the sun for desserts (choc. truffles, pretzels, peppermint patties, cakes, cupcakes, cookies, banana breads, muffins, etc) and everyone always loves them so I have thought about this before.

Everything I make is egg free and made with peanut/tree nut free ingredients (no cross contamination).

I am actually in the midst of a start up right now. Believe me, it's hard work and the hours are long (I work 60-70 hours a week) but when it takes off it will be worth it. If I survive the wait, that is...lol!!

There is such a niche for these products. I would be all over them!

DH is in the process of it now. Yes tons of work and oh so slow going.

My dream...own a Hallmark store. My sister, kids and I could all work. Oh and definitely in the back, room for the kids to chill or do HW and eventually a nursery for the grandbabies, while their Mommy's work!! LOL!

Probably, I'll just end up doing paperwork for DH!!

Thats how this all came up. I cant go out and buy anything at a bakery because 99% of bakeries use peanut products and I am cross contamination allergic to peanuts. And if they are peanut free, they are vegan and I am personally not a huge fan of vegan sweets.

I've heard so many people on these boards talk about finding allergy free sweets for themelves and their kids that I realize this is a market that has not really been completely tapped into yet.

I feel like so many people are going straight to gluten free and/or vegan for their "specialty" shops that the inbetween of regular shops and those ultra specialty shops doesnt really exist

We did come up with a rough business idea that we presented to one of my parents friends who has a business management degree because we were curious as to what someone else thought about this and it was something like this (product wise):
Baked goods: ALL peanut and tree nut safe; egg and egg free products
Chocolates (truffles, peppermint patties, pretzles, starwberries, etc): ALL peanut, tree nut and egg free
Other sweets (caramels, fudge, etc): ALL peanut, tree nut and egg free

I LOVE it! We do not have peanut allergies here, but I would buy from you EVERY time I had to send a treat to school. That totally stresses me out! I am always so worried I will send in the wrong thing!

Yes I am starting 2 new companies, both 2 new invention products that I hope to get on the market, and/or sell to other companies to do the actual manufacturing etc. I like the idea of a product much better, something that is out of my hands and I just basically collect a royalty check every month. :lmao:

A brick and morter business is so tough to do, unless you have a specialized market to fullfill a need that's out there that no one, or not too many peeps are doing. I would be totally afraid to start a small retail business or restaurant, just because I know that is hard to make a run of it, plus it is so time consuming, I would think it would consume your entire existence, unless you were rolling so high that you could just hire people to run everything for you. Just MHO.
