What kind of clothes should we pack for the 3rd week of October?

We've never been to DL that time of year before - usually in May or summertime. We'll be there between October 19th and the 23rd.

I can look at various temperature averages for the entire month of October, but was looking for some specific information. We live in a warm climate where we pretty much wear shorts all year round (daytime highs usually 84-90), so I'm not sure if DL will seem cool to us that time of year. Will we mostly be ok with shorts, or should we plan on jeans/sweatshirts/light jackets?

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

Oh, and we're going to San Diego for three days on October 23rd. Will it be much cooler there?

I would bring a mix of shorts and pants/jeans. Definetely bring sweatshirts and/or jackets because in October it will really cool off in the evenings. It's really hard to say what the weather will be like. San Diego is generally much cooler than Anaheim during the fall. Sometimes the sun doesn't even come out, so you'll want warmer clothes for there anyway.

I agree with the above poster. We were there the third week of October last year and definitely needed jackets in the early morning and in the evening. Also, I would pack lightweight sweats/pants to pull on over shorts for your kids. My kids always seem to get colder than me and DH, probably because they don't have as much body fat as we do!

October is a great month to be in So Cal...generally wonderful weather. As a general rule, I'd guess 70's during the day, upper 50's-low 60's at night. Layers are your best bet, but the chances of you needing a real winter coat are virtually nil; think sweatshirt or fleece (which can then be layered with a t-shirt or t-neck at night). That said...last year we had pouring rain on Halloween, but I honestly can't recall that happening before in my entire 43 years!
