I picked up some fresh cheese danishes last night at Wal-Mart, but it doesn't say anywhere on the ingredients what kind of cheese it is...it's soooo good! Anyone know what it usually is?

I've always thought it was some sort of cream cheese mixture. Whatever it is you're right it taste great!

It should be cream cheese and sugar mixed together.

 If you ever want to make some really easy cheese danish at home, try this:

INGREDIENTS:
2 (10 ounce) cans refrigerated crescent
roll dough
Filling
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
diced
3/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons lemon juice 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons sour cream
Icing Glaze
1 cup confectioners' sugar
1 tablespoon milk
1 tablespoon butter, softened

DIRECTIONS:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
2. Line bottom of baking pan with 1 can of crescent rolls. Pinch all seams together to seal. * Just unroll dough and place in pan, don't make into rolls!
3. In a large bowl, mix together cream cheese, white sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract and sour cream. Spread filling on top of unrolled dough. (If you like fruit danish, you can add a little cherry (or other flavor) pie filling on top of cream cheese filling.) Place second can of unrolled dough on top of filling.
4. Bake in preheated oven for 20 to 30 minutes.
5. In a small bowl, stir together confectioners' sugar, milk and butter. After Danish has cooled, drizzle with icing.

If you want individual danish, you can also just leave the rolls rolled up and cut into 1/4" slices like you would if you were using rolls of cookie dough. (If you have a hard time cutting the soft dough into slices, you can place into the freezer for a couple minutes to "harden" it up for easier slicing.) Place the cut slices on a cookie sheet, and use your thumb to make an indentation on the top of each, then place filling in each indentation. Bake for about 15 mins at 375 and check for doneness. Top with glaze.

For an added treat add just a tad of fresh strawberry jam (I have used freezer jam in the past) - it makes them awesome.

MMMMM,......That sounds like a great recipe. I'll have to try it out, it might be perfect for Christmas morning! Thanks Seahunt :thumbsup2

Where do you find icing glaze? Do you just use regular icing?

In a small bowl, stir together confectioners' sugar, milk and butter.

That is what will make the icing for you.

Thanks for posting that recipe. I was ready to reply that it's cream cheese, sugar, eggs and sour cream-but you had an actual recipe!

BTW, the Cheese Danishes at WDW are the best! I used to bring some back home from every trip to Florida.
