I got the S5 for Christmas (a gift to myself! ), and I ordered the book Short Courses to learn how to use it. It helped a TON. You can order it through http://www.shortcourses.com/store/canon-s5is.html. I may not know how to take the best pictures yet, but I least I know what all the buttons are for!

We may not agree on football teams, but we definitely agree on cameras! I've been keeping up on the photography board too - I'm a little concerned about taking fireworks shots. That may be well above my photo abilities! Have fun in February - Please let me know how your shots turn out!

It sounds like you'll be fairly safe if you put your camera in Sports mode! I've found a lot of my darker pictures with a subject that is lit up work better when I turn the flash off. I'm going to have to re-read the entire S3/S5 thread to refresh my memory for the trip!

3 different Kodak Easyshares which are all great for point and shoot, and a Nikon D40x with a wide angle lens and zoom lens for those elusive animals on the safari ride.

Up until a few months ago, had a Kodak Easy Share 6330 3.1 Megapixel which served it's purpose and did fine.

Now, I have a Kodak Easy Share M883 8.0 Megapixel which is Ultra small and I can hang it on a biner clip and put it in my pocket. It takes great pictures, has lots of cool settings. I played with it a lot on my December trip and was able to get some really good pictures of Carousel of Progress without a flash!! Also got some good castle pictures and some good Lights of Wonder Pictures.

Wow this is some great info... but I am still undecided. Should I get a point and shoot because it is small and I can make my DW put it in her fannypack for the parks, or should I get a DSLR because I can do more stuff with it.
I am kinda leaning towards the DSLR because I just registered a new website... RVUSA.org, and I would love to take pictures of campgrounds and campers etc to put in the review section. What do you guys think?
