What kind of AAA discounts? Thinking of joining

DH just called and the minivan needs to be towed. We've been meaning to join AAA for ages. What kind of discounts do AAA members get at WDW? We're getting 2 nights at WL at the end of our next trip. Will the AAA discount be better than any general public discount?

Also, are there any discounts on park passes with AAA?

TIA

Lisa

AAA Discounts (from Mousesavers)

During Value Season you can get up to 15% off at the Disney Deluxe and Home-Away-From-Home resorts, or 20% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Regular Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Home-Away-From-Home resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts and the Ft. Wilderness campsites.

During Peak Season you can usually get up to 10% off at the Disney Deluxe and Home-Away-From-Home resorts, or 15% off at the Value and Moderate resorts.

The only time AAA/CAA discounts don't usually apply is Holiday Season (around Christmas).

The codes that come out for general public are usually better than AAA rates, but there seem to be more AAA rates available.

The AAA rate is usually 10%-20% depending on season and hotel (higher discounts for deluxes). I just saved about $400.00 on seven nights at the Boardwalk in September. Of course, I'm hoping for a code, but every little bit helps. :teeth:

I just joined AAA and I don't even have a car! My membership cost $57 and the next day I received $257 off my existing five night reservation at the Poly. I also used it to get a discount on tours of Rome (my spring vacation), flowers for mom (20% savings), and a great rate at the BWI Airport Sheraton. AAA is a great deal.

Can only speak for our upcoming Easter/Spring trip, and the AAA rate was teeeeeny compared to the general-public room code.

In our case ,we saved the $55+ fee for a AAA membership we didn't need and also saved $400 over the AAA room rate.

Go public room-codes!!!! :cheer2:

Oh man, reeeealllly dumb question alert.....

So, I booked through WDW but now realize, DOH! I have AAA. If the price works out better for our Nov. trip to AKL can I cancel and rebook trough AAA or do they automatically deduct the discount? I cannot believe I am so dense! This could totally be the difference between standard and deluxe room for us! Please, someone kick me.....after of course you answer ;)

I think you can transfer your existing reservation over to AAA (if you're wanting a package - otherwise you can apply a AAA room-only discount directly with Disney). If you need a package + dining, contact your local AAA office and explain you already have a reservation and would like to transfer it to them if there are any AAA discounts available.

I just switched us over to WL, but they only had a woods view at the AAA discount - but I booked it anyway as I still saved $268 with the AAA discount. The total was $2493.02 for 2 adults with MYW 7 day tickets w/hopper + dining.

Sometimes different resorts won't have any discounts available or only certain room types will be discounted, but you can ask anyway.

Just as an FYI, my AAA agent quoted me $2824.82 total for 2 adults, AKL savannah view with MYW 7 day tickets w/hopper + dining (value season). Just so you have an idea on the cost.

Hope this helps!

WOW WOW WOW! I guess I know what I'm doing first thing tomorrow morning! We are doing AKL for 4 nights, 2adults 1 child with 5 day hoppers + dining plan and airfare and it's roughly $2700.00 for a standard room. And gee....I thought that was decent!

Thank you sooo much!!! My poor credit card might actually sigh with relief :rotfl: for once!

Sorry to butt in here, but was wondering if I can ask a question re: AAA rates as well ...

I booked a room at the POR for $129 per night at the AAA rate. Usual rate was about $149, so I think that's about a 15 percent discount. Is that a pretty good rate? Would the public discount be more than the AAA discount for a moderate resort?

I think for seven nights at the POR for two adults and one child (our other daughter is only 2, so no charge) and two adult tickets and one child ticket (7-day Park Hopper), the AAA rate comes to a bit more than $1600. Is that pretty good?

TIA!

I believe CRO is open until 11 p.m.. If so, you can call them now if you want to.

The public discount code, if any, would be a little better, but there are less rooms available at those rates.

It sounds like she's wanting the dining add-on, so she'll have to call AAA to get the AAA discount.

I've used AAA twice, simply because I like having my reservation in place well in advance. I know you can get better rates with codes, but I really don't want to wait for them, I'm going in Oct. and have been told the codes for that time wouldn't be out until a month or so before. I just figure you're gonna pay to play, and AAA has saved me about $200 on my upcoming trip. I have a great TA at AAA, and it's pretty much one or two phone calls or emails, and I'm booked and ready to go. It's personal choice, but I do like using AAA for DW.

Does anyone use AAA for airline tickets also? I am not a member but if it would help I could become one..Does it benefit?

Never tried them for airfare, that's one thing I've been able to find cheap online, however, I'm pretty lucky and have a discount airline that flies out of AC to Orlando, non-stop for about $160. Hey, give it a shot, maybe they can help.
