My FIL's neighbor has a ton of snails that come out after light rains. We were out for a walk after such a rain with my 3 year old niece and 6 year old son. My son and she stopped to see the snails, and picked them up. My niece said "Ewwww," to which DS said,
"You know, at Disney World people were eating these!"
She very quickly brought the snail to her mouth and licked it to see what it tasted like! I was mortified, but she seemed unharmed, although she did shudder a bit and toss the poor snail to the grass. My husband and I never told my brother, but I'm afraid to take her to the Food and Wine Festival, just in case it dredges up these horrible memories!
My DD has liked escargot, steamers, fried clams (WITH bellies, thank you very much!), sushi, lobster, etc. since birth. Loves spinach, too, and broccoli, and edamame. She's like her mother...never met a food I didn't like.
DS, on the other hand...fuhgeddaboudit. Beef. Maybe turkey. Broccoli and green beans and corn. Pretty much it.
My DD11's favorite part of F&W! Very adventurous eater, but, won't eat anything "put together" (like a sandwich or a burrito). She picks it apart and eats it part by part!
