rack rate??? :confused3 I have been reading on several threads about people having to pay rack rate and I have no idea what it means? It probably means something really easy and I'll wind up smacking myself on the forehead and who knows - maybe I've even paid it without me knowing :lmao:

Thanks in advance.

Rack rate = published/standard nightly cost of room. I've noticed at some hotels in Las Vegas, the rack rate posted on the inside of the room door might be somewhere in the $200 - $300 range... for a room for which I paid maybe $50?

It means you're paying the full price that Disney charges (or as some would say overcharges) per night for a room. No discounts of any kind, just full price. Most people avoid doing the package deal with or through Disney. Because in most cases, it turns out that you're paying the full rack rate for the resort, when you break down all the numbers. There's discounts and codes to be had, not as plentiful as there was a few years ago, but they do exist.

It means you're buying your room "off the rack" at full price. As opposed to getting a bargain by using a discount (AAA, annual pass, etc.) or finding a special offer.

Thanks for the info...it appears as though every single time I've ever been to WDW that we've paid rack rate. Oh well se la vie right. It's just much easier for me to do things over the internet or call Disney directly. Maybe one of these years i'll book with AAA or had some special discount offers. Thanks again :goodvibes

I always say, if you return from disney and you and your family are happy and can't wait to get back, then it was worth every penny no matter what you paid.
