What is your secret

I won't go on almost all the "scary" Disney rides and that's saying something because those are like baby rides to my husband or compared to some that are out there!

I've done all of them once, and don't care to do them again. I was ticked after RNRC because that dump shop is not the greatest place to be after getting tossed around on a coaster!! They are lucky no merchandise was damaged in my hunt for a real exit!

Now my sad one is that I can't do Star Tours anymore after the last refurb. I got motion sickness from it so that one's done for me too!

It's moderately embarrassing that I can't handle any of these rides, but I'd rather not feel sick. My husband wants to go to cedar point next year. He has to bring a friend or he'll be on everything alone!

Oh and I do the chicken exit at mission space every time! I just pretend like I'm going on it and then walk out with the group that was in before us. Tried both sides, not doing either again

So I want to know, how many people on here have used chicken exits in any ride? Is it fairly common? Do you pretend there's an emergency  or you try to just sneak out? :rolleyes1

I just sneak out. I like to accompany my husband in the lines, but I am not going on those rides. If anyone saw me though, I will admit to not feeling shame in front of a college kid CM. We can all laugh at me - no problem!

I think it may be easier for women (of a certain age range) to use the early exit. A friend used it almost constantly on one visit to the world. She was early into her pregnancy and didn't really show yet, but didn't want to chance anything. She walked with her family through the line and then made her exit toward the end. More family time. A CM told her it is a frequent thing in her condition when they had a chat about it. No funny looks and no pressure. Good luck!

After riding the Drop Zone at Kings Dominion (Our local theme park) the drops dont bother me but I scare easy so the beginning does, so I just close my eyes and sing in my head. (Music has always calmed me tho) I do this for any ride I am nervous or scared of.

Hope you find something that works for you.

There is no shame in the chicken exit. I have backed out and probably will again on Dinosaur. (I have ridden it before but it still gets me.)

I did a few times at Star Tours. I get really motion sick but wanted to stay with DH while I could.. plus I really do enjoy that queue. The CMs were great and the ones by the exits kept me company while I sat on the air conditioned bench.

As for TOT I did it once so that I can say that I tried it. Never again. But it really wasn't as bad as I was anticipating.

Am scared of tot but at the same time dying to go on it, I see kids as young as two do it so again how, I am more scared of the drops then anything else

That's a darned tall 2 year old!

Are you afraid of how you FEEL during the drops, or of the concept of falling?

If it's the feel, I find that breathing slowly out while in the down portion of the ride helps my stomach not feel like it's going to come up out of my body. Helps on coasters, too.

If it's the idea of falling, well, you're NOT falling. You are being *pulled* down. If the action of the ride stops, you stop. When the action of the ride starts again, the pulling starts again. For me, it's so different in feel than an actual drop ride (like Dr Doom's FearFall at Universal) it's like night and day.

Of course, the pulling is exactly what makes it so fast; you're going faster than gravity would pull you down.

There is absolutely no need to pretend anything or sneak. Just say you want to leave, and go. Taking care of yourself is so important! Do what you need to do.

My mom went on the teacups at Disneyland and got a migraine that took her down for the rest of the trip. She didn't take care of herself. And it ruined her enjoyment and lots of our enjoyment of the trip because we missed her as she lay in the hotel room with the lights off.

Take care of yourself, and use those exits if you need to.

How tall do you need to be? I have a really tall 3 year old I think he's around 42 inches, he's taller that some of the kids in my DD kindergarten class. But I would not take him on ride

40". My son was and is on the taller side and hit that at 4. Which is when he went on TOT at DCA. He liked the ride itself but still cannot stand the creepiness of the line and story.

I think TT is alot scarier. It took me a long time to do that ride. I did it once and said never again. When my youngest was old enough to ride it I did it again to go with him. Now I love it. It is scary, but I like it. I won't do it more than 2-3 times in a row. That's just too much...lol.

My dd has used the chicken exit on TT. You get to go through the whole thing. They bring you to the chicken exit right before you get on an elevator.

I have also used the chicken exit on Dinosaur. Not because I was scared, but because I was sick. The heat got to me on our June trip and even being in an air conditioned room didn't help. I had to go back to the hotel.

The CMs don't think anything when you ask for the exit. They are very accommodating and helpful.

HTH

While I am extremely terrified of ToT (AND Space Mountain), the view when they first open the doors, especially towards sunset, can't be beat IMO. But while I am terrified the entire wait to get on, and first sitting down, I end up laughing and getting the greatest rush the rest of the ride. What helps me is to have someone more terrified than you are. Luckily I have a sister who cries every time, and clings to the handles with a vice grip... she's a pretty good sister to let me talk her into going on it with me every time! Also, I have had a fear of heights and falling since before I can remember. It sometimes helps to just breath, close your eyes, and think about either something awesome you did earlier that day, or something you REALLY love.

I love, love, love ToT!~ I will go, get off, get back and line, repeat…..unless the line is long! Last month we were at Disney and I went 5 times in a row before the line got a bit longer than I wished to wait, and then we moved over to RR and did single rider 5 times in a row! :thumbsup2

I know it isn't for everyone. My 15 year old doesn't do it with us. He prefers going to the drawing class over and over again while we do ToT and RR.

I have a fear of heights and my knees get weak when I think of falling, but ToT doesn't give me that feeling. You are fully enclosed in a regulated fall……not fearing a free fall off of a building. Completely different.

I am afraid of falling
