What is your realistic time frame when using MyPoints?

I signed up for this about a month ago and then forgot about it. I started back on it the other day and I've gotten to 300 points so far. Its a long shot from the 3700 I'd need for a $25 Rainforest Cafe GC but I have 15 months to do this. I was able to get 50 points tonight by doing a few short surveys. All in all took about an hour I guess. If I could get 50 points a night I'd be in business.

For those who do NOT make purchases to do this and only get the free points like me, how long does it take you to reach the approx 3700 points to get a $25 gift card. I don't mind doing this while Im sitting here reading the DIS or such, its not like its work. I'm just curious about how others do it best.

Are you limited to so many free points per day? Per week? Once I had done the panel of surveys I seen there were no more for me to click on (the ones that give you 5 points for just clicking them and then additional points for completing them).

Can the Rainforest GC's stack on one meal? We will be returning to T-Rex and If Im diligent with this I could have 3 or 4 cards by the time we go.

to earn a Macy's $50 gift card took me just over a year....I believe that's in the 6000 point range. All I do is click through and such. But you have to be diligant on keeping up with it because the emails expire after X number of days. (Sometimes I forget and end up attempting to click through a million expired ones.

Also, on the home page they'll often have 30 points worth of 5pt click throughs...

Don't forget about shopping through them. I always check MyPoints (or eBates) before I place an order for ANYTHING online. You never know if they are offering points. I think you will have plenty of time to accumulate your points! Good Luck!

I joined MyPoints about one year before my trip and was able to earn $75 in Rainforest Cafe GC in time. I do shop online though and just went through there. I also used their coupons and did surveys to get to that. Now, I only do the click thru emails and coupons and I'm able to earn a $25 gc for most places in less than 6 months.

When I first started MyPoints, it seemed like to took forever to accumulate points. The one thing that sped things up for me was to download the point-finder toolbar. It's a toolbar that it puts on your browser and you can use it to do searches (like a poor man's Google). You get 75pts when you do 31 searches a month. I have to admit though, if it's close to the end of the month and I'm short on searches, I just type in random words to bring my total to be over 31. With an extra 75pts a month, it brought my total up much faster. I think you get a 100pt(?) bonus for downloading the toolbar. You can down load it under the 'Easy Points' tab, and then 'Down load Point Finder'.

Inviting friends to do mypoints also greatly increases your point total. You get a bonus for each friend and then you get 10% of the points that they earn every month.

I never buy something just to get the points, but whenever I do buy something online, I go through mypoints to get the points. The little circle on the point-finder toolbar will turn green when you can earn points from a web site.

Also, I'm not 100% sure that you can use a RF giftcard at TRex. Mypoints has a Landry's gift card that can be used at all the Landry's restaurants (TRex + RainForest + others). I've always gotten the Landry's gc instead.

I also use mypoints. If you concentrate on it, the points can add up. I do the click throughs from the e-mails. The surveys take a long time for the points they offer, so I usually try to screen out for the quick ten points. I do some shopping for additional points. But for me it is not something I focus on, I just let the points add up and cash out about every six months for a gift card or two.

I earn several gift cards a year and I used to always get gift cards for Target & Starbucks, but I'm now concentrating on Rainforest Cafe gift cards, as well.

I just click through the daily emails. When I signed up years ago I set my preferences to everything so I sometimes get a dozen emails to click through a day.

I do click through mypoints before doing any online shopping though and it does help if you're going to be buying something online anyway. And because I made 8 purchases through them, I got a bonus $20 giftcard (well, bonus points that were worth that amount to be exact)

When you Buzz on things it'll sometimes give you points for that, I just did 2 today that said earn up to 75 points when I clicked to Buzz on my campaign. You also get 3 points after doing the surveys on the site, just had a bunch of them on my account to do too. After the survey it'll say accept your points or something like that and you have to click yes and accept them.



As for OP, I also click through everything I get, I do it every morning then it's not so overwhelming. I try all the surveys although I rarely get through, just get my 10 points. Most of my points do come from shopping, I buy almost everything online. I also do the search bar. Recently if I do a little above my 35 or whatever it is searches for the month the next month they send me an offer to get more than the usual 75 points for searching if I do 10 more then I had the previous month. Of course this goes up and up. Last month I had like 95 searches and this month it wanted me to do 100+ searches for the extra points. But these add up quickly. Sorry I can't help you as to how long it'll take. I use it as just an extra. I don't worry about points if they don't show up, don't even check for them anymore, I just accept what they give me and use them when I have enough. They were never any help when I'd contact them for missing points anyway...

I have tried the AllState one twice and when I get on the last page to finish it, there is no submit button. It is for 105 points to get a quote. I'm just going to avoid that one from now on. I was able to get 70 points last night so thats not so bad. I guess they add up before you know it.

To the OP - yes, you can stack RFC gift certificates at one meal. We had $50 in gc the last time we were there, and they took them, no problem.

One thing that I would suggest is to get another person working with you. (i.e. Husband, older kids, etc...) This is what DW and I do. She actually got me started with Mypoints. We will be going to TRex or Rainforest Cafe for my DS's 13th BDay trip. We will both accumulate as many points as possible and both get Landry's gift cards.

Don't forget about the kids reward coupons for RFC/T-Rex for .99 kid meals. That will help with the saving of $ off your Gift Card.

I got DexH to sign up and he is going to make a $20 purchase through Walmart for stuff we need anyway. We'll both get 750 points this way. He signed up under my referral link but I haven't been credited the 25 points for that yet. The 750 will put me over 1100 points which is almost a third of what I need. Now that Im getting the hang of it, it really isn't hard at all and if your trip is a ways off it looks easy to get a $25 GC before you go. I mean, its free so why not?

And yes that $.99 kids meal will be GREAT in addition to these! If we hang in with this, we could potentially cover our entire meal at T Rex.

You can use the RF cards at the TRex-it says it on the back of the card. You could also cash out for Landry's-which is who owns these restaurants.

Right now, Walmart has 10 points per dollar and free ship to store. Go online through Mypoints and order anything that you would normally buy there and pick it up in the store. I also do this with Sears when I need something large, like a fridge-buy online, get the points-no shipping because you pick up in store. This is an easy way to build points quickly.

I've also bought many site to store items (including lots of Christmas shopping) thru MyPoints from WalMart. Anytime I want to buy a none food GM item and I'm not in a huge hurry. I bought a dishwasher thru MyPoints & Home Depot (2000pts) Anything I plan on buying online, I check MyPoints first.
I was doing any EBaying thru them also.
My first $50 gift card took foever but I'm getting points quicker now.
I also use the search bar even though I love the 'Google' . Some days I search all kinds of things to rack up searches. (I got over 700 this month) Yeah-I need a life.
My last 2 gift cards were $50 Walgreens cards that I bought Disney cards with for our next trip. They never said a word about using them that way but I bought a couple other items, ran the gift card first, then my Disney Visa for the balance.

This. I average about 100 pts a week just clicking the emails and "trying" the surveys. I always attempt to screen out of the surveys. Because I'd rather take the 10 pts for a couple minutes of my time compared to 30-60 min to complete the survey for a measly 50 pts. I've noticed that on occasion, when I screen out of a survey, they mypoints page will come up. And it will give me another oppurtunity to take another survey. I was able to get a hundred points in one day just by screening out of the survey for a quick 10 pts and "Another Survey Oppurtunity" would pop up.

I never shop through Mypoints and only earn free points through emails, surveys, toolbar search and on a rare occasion I'll do an easy offer(usually to sign up for a newsletter). And I can cash in for a $25 gift card twice a year. Sometimes more. I cashed in for a $25 Amazon gift card on 4-16(for 3950 pts) and have earned 1962 pts since then.

You get mypoints for every bzz report you submit(30 pts or more), every survey you take(3 pts) and every post campaign survey(30 pts). I just logged into my bzzagent account yesterday and had 12 regular surveys and one post campaign survey to take(I hadn't logged in in a couple of months). So, right there was 66 mypoints.

Mypoints joined up with Bzzagent a couple of years ago. So, I don't remember how to link the accounts up to get rewarded with mypoints. Does anyone else know how to link the accounts?

The MyPoints add up pretty fast. Good luck getting your card, it is great to get a free meal. Also, the Landry cards can be used at Yak and Yeti table service at AK. We used ours there in May.
