:cheer2: What is a MUST DO "tradition" in preparing for one of your trips??

I always make rice krispie treats and apply a sunless tanner. :cheer2:

We always go out to eat lunch the day before we leave.

We ususally play Disney music and watch the planning videos leading up to "Disney Eve".

On Disney Eve, I work a half day and DH finishes our packing. The boys bath Magoo and get him ready to stay with my Mother.

We go to dinner where DH practices pulling his wallet out like a six shooter, dispensing fifties instead of bullitts.

Then it's off to bed and chatter about Disney. Get up at 3:30 because no one really sleeps and get ready to leave.

This year Ryan (10) thinks he should go to bed in his clothes to save time in the morning. :D

Hmmmm..... can't think of anything specific except LOTS OF EXITEMENT and very little sleep the night before !!!

We usually work a half a day, go over our packing list numerous times to make sure we have everything.

Order Pizza and look over last years vacation pictures and talk about what we wanna do again....etc etc

Then " try " to get some sleep LOL doesnt usually work too well!

Before our Disney trips my DW and I wear a differant Disney shirt everyday to work everyone knows where we are going and cant beleive we have so many shirts. lol::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

I go out to Walmart to see how many more Tigger or Pooh and Gang shirts I can find. Like I need anymore, as I have about 12 right now! :p On our next trip, I would NEVER wear the same shirt twice and we're going to be there for 8 days and 7 nights.

Before I go on a trip, I watch videos of WDW to get me in the mood, see pictures of our trip and online to get myself pumped up before heading towards WDW.

I'm from the UK and we ALWAYS have fish and chips the night before we go. I always seem to end up making a last minute tape to play in the car when we get there.

OMG! I didn't realize that these rituals were so common...lol. Ours is to stop in Valdosta, GA and eat at the Shoney's Breakfast Bar. It gives us some much needed stretching time, full bellies and time to 'realize' that we are half way there!

I head to the local branch of my bank and "cash out" all of the nickels, dimes, and quarters I'd saved during the previous year....Its kinda goofy, but I do it every trip on the day prior to "leaving day"..........

I also do the t-shirt thing....I probably have about 20 WDW shirts and I wear them to death right before a trip down.

Also, we listen to my disney CD's on the way to the airport

We drive and inevitable leave early. Our trip has already been moved up by 24 hours, just in case we want to stop somewhere along the way (like that will happen LOL...)

We have a countdown on the refrigerator from about 50 days out made from those tear off notepad blocks.

Our funniest tradition is we play the song "Holiday Road" by Lindsay Buckingham as we pull out of the driveway. Come on you know this one - "I found out long ago. (Woooo ooooh oooh) It's a long way down the holiday road."

We are the Griswolds! (Now that is a good tag line - where is the tag fairy when you need her?)

DWD

This is not such a pre-Dis thing, but I buy a small notebook (one of those 1/4 piece of paper sized ones) and we write in it. Random thoughts of getting ready to go, and everyone writes in it. It is really cool during the trip to pick it up and read what others have added with their thoughts. We re-read past years books before we leave....really fun!

Doesn't the sunless tanner somewhat ruin your rice krispie treats?? I prefer mine plain!

Before we leave, we always finish any last minute packing. (We're packed WELL before the day we leave...just any last little do-dads)

We take the dogs to wherever they're going. (My Boston Terrier goes to my mother and my fiancée's ****-a-poo goes to my soon-to-be mother-in-law).

We usually put on a Disney movie to try and fall asleep to, and then boom! We're ready to go!

OMG, that is so funny! A few trips ago, for fun I made Rice Krispie treats in the shape of Mickey Heads before we left and I have continued that tradtion. In fact I just bought marshmallows to make some tomorrow. ;)

I also have to clean the house before we leave and do my nails.

We have the countdown chain and once I made up bags of m&ms for each kid. They ate 1 a day until the trip.

I do not have a pre-trip ritual...yet. I think for my upcoming trip I am going to take my DD to our favorite diner for Mickey pancakes.

Mine seem sto be staying up until 2 am trying to fit everything in the van, restlessly trying to get some sleep and getting up way to early to start the drive. The kids and I will stop at Tim Hortons the morning we leave for breakfast.

I agree with wearing the Disney shirts! :) We are still 63 days out & I've already been wearing my Disney shirts like crazy lately. My hubby even said the other day, "You must be getting really excited about the trip!" When I asked why he thought that - he told me that I'd been wearing a Disney shirt and/or hat every day for a week!

We've actually been thinking about which Disney shirts we'll be bringing this year - we hate to have all the same shirts in all the pics year after year. ;)

Once we're closer to the trip I love to do a countdown on the fridge or calendar. We also always pack many days in advance because we're so excited to go. We drop our doggies off at my MIL's house (or sometimes they ride along with us to the airport when my MIL takes us there.

I like some of these ideas, I'll have to make notes! ;)
