What is your not so normal item to pack, which is helpful while at WDW ?

im not sure if its been mentioned or not but i usually take a small postal tube with us, you know the ones that posters usually come in? well they are so handy, as its hard to keep keepsakes flat in the suit case, so its just easy to roll them up and pop in the tube. When we're at DLP we like to collect the different placemats from different hotels, so the tubes come in handy :)

I never even thought about collecting placemats - what a great idea! How to you keep them once home (ie, scrapbook, etc)?

The postal tube is also handy for rolling up your artwork from the animation studio. Now, mine don't deserve the special care but none the less they get rolled up, placed in the tube and safely transported home.

I like to pack a pair of blunt point scissors for opening packets of ketchup and other plastic bags.

A nightlight! A lot of the hotel rooms are dark especially at night when you're trying to get to the bathroom!

Great idea! We always have left the bathroom light on and cracked to door. Just put my nightlight in the suitcase! Thanks! We are leaving July 21 for POR.

A bike pump. Those jogging strollers leak air at the worst times and it is impossible pushing a poorly inflated stroller, ESP after all the luggage has been on it for the car trip!

Another suggestion is postage stamps so you don't have to chase everywhere to find some to mail post cards back home - of course that doesn't work for me because I can't buy US stamps here, but I remember trying to find a place that sold some when I was there.....I thought I'd have some fun this year and mail all my Christmas cards from Disney...

I do stamps and pre-printed address labels. Nerd alert. I have my son pick out a card and put the label and stamp on it.

I buy the pack of post cards and bring the unused ones on the next trip.

I love your idea about the postl tub! The animation studio is one of our must stops and now our drawings will be kept neat.

I bring an empty cardboard beer/root beer 6 pack box. I put the plastic cups that are in the room in each spot, so that each family member has their own cup to hold their toothbrush and paste. They fold flat for packing. I like for my toothbrush to be off the counter while I'm gone for the day and i don't like to put it away wet, so I put it on the closet shelf.

Brilliant! :)

We pack our clothes in space bags.

1. Reduces alot of space in the suitcase for souvenirs or other things to come home.
2. Waterproof and we drive. We also take a truck and the bed of the truck is not covered.
3. We then use said space bags during our trip to put our dirty clothes into. I am sure this can also be said for swimsuits and towels to take home without getting anything else wet but I have actually never gone swimming at WDW

Oh, and I almost forgot my other tip.

We are disaster-prone travelers.

Everytime we plan a vacation, some sort of natural disaster occurs. We've been to Disney during THREE hurricanes. Two in WDW, one on the cruise. We've been through an earthquake, flash flood and tornado.

Needless to say, we are vacation preppers!

I have a red bag that I always toss in the bag. In it are Flashlights and extra batteries. A weather radio, deck of cards, battery lantern for the room, first aid kit, etc.

We always stay in a DVC site, so we always have a kitchen in the room. We always make sure that even if we don't plan on eating much in the room, we at least have a case of water, bread, and PB & J.

That being said, trust me, there is no better place in the world (other than home) then Disney during a disaster. They have it down to a science and keep you so informed and calm. After being confined to the rooms during the hurricanes, they made sure every room had 3 meals a day delivered (sandwiches, chips etc). Cast members stayed on each floor. They had treasure hunts in the hallways for the kids when it wasn't so bad. They had Belle, Pluto and Goofy in a conference room reading and entertaining the kids. They had a makeshift bar for the parents in another conference room. They even alerted us in the middle of the night when the winds got too hard and we needed to pull our pillows and blankets into the hallways for safety. They made sure that if any family needed baby food, formula or diapers that they had them. Cast/Crew members were awesome!

Sooo ... when's your NEXT vacation?!

BTW, I LOVE the sleighbell necklace idea! I deal with many patients that have dementia and Alzheimer's, and this is a fantastic way to let the caregivers know when they're on the loose! Thanks for your tip!!

Bottle of ketchup for the road and in the room lmao. My son is a ketchup fanatic eats it on everything.
