Just curious, that's all.

And no, I'm not asking what the names are of your grandparents.

I'm wondering what your grandchildren call you. :thumbsup2

It seems so unreal. I'm 41 and have a friend who is 42. Her 2nd grandchild was just born a few days ago and her other son's girlfriend is expecting in March. But it seems like just yesterday WE were hanging out on our porch as young teenagers. Where does the time go!!! Just doesn't seem possible that she can be a grandmother yet, but I'm so happy for her.

And I do believe she's called grandma

I called my grandparents Memere and Pepere (mem-may and pep-pay) and that's also what my children call their grandparents

What about you? And why do they call you that particular name? Is it because your heritage? Just a silly name they or you picked out?

I called mine Grandma and Grandpa Lastname.

DDs call theirs Grandma, Grandpa, Grammie (Googie per DD) and Papa.

I am hoping no one is calling me a grandparent for a very very long time. :lmao:

I am not a Grandparent yet...my oldest child is 16 and I'm hoping we have a few years before that happens.

My kids call my parents Grandma Elaine and Grandpa Jim and my husbands parents Grandma Marj and Grandpa Walt. It just kind of happened...we were trying to call them all Grandpa and Grandma and it was just too confusing.

I called mine Grandpa and Granddad. My grandmothers passed away before I was born.

Good Lord!!! I'll be 45 in a few weeks and I am no where near ready to be a grandmother.

Oldest DGD is only 2 and half and what we say to her is "gamma" for me and paw-paw for dh. She gets the paw-paw but she tends to call me "grandma" Of course the child has 6 grandmothers/greatgrandmothers so she tends to just call any one of us by the first name she thinks of at the moment! :rotfl:

and I only picked it because it was different than the other 5 but not too far from grandma.

Youngest DGD is only 10 months old and doesn't talk yet. She just gives me that beautiful HUGE smile and bright blue eyes that melt the heart!

My inlaws are Grammy and Poppy and my parents are Nana and Pop-pop to our kids!

Mrs. Tex and I had darned well better not be grandparents yet! (I'm looking at you, Tex Jr. me lad :rotfl:) So I don't really know what we'll end up being when the grands come along. I haven't really given it much thought, but I'll be highly honored if they would consider calling me the same thing I called my grandfather. (Keep reading.)

My grandparents (I only had my Mom's parents -- long story) were Gummy and Pawpaw. I have NO idea how to spell that last, so it's just phonetic. Gummy came from my Mom trying to get me to call her mother Grandma, and me not quite being able to say it yet.

My parents are/were Granny and Pawpaw to Tex Jr., and Mrs. Tex's parents were Grammaw and Grampaw. (Again, it's phonetic, and he IS a native Texan, you understand!)

My kids call my mom Grandma Lastname, my dad Papa, my FIL Grandpa Lastname and my MIL Grandma Firstname. Of course, to their faces it's Grandma, Grandpa, Papa, but when we're talking about them, the kids add the last name or first name.

For me, I called we called my maternal grandmother "Ma" (grandfather had passed before we were born). We called my paternal grandparents Grandma and Granddad.

I am a step-grandmother so wanted to differentiate myself from the other 2 grandmothers already there, so we're suggesting "Mimi" for me and "Pops" for my DH (as his daughter calls him Pops, anyway).

Maternal: Gee and Grandpa (couldn't see Grandma when I was little.. "Gee" came out and it stuck. Now everyone calls her that).

Paternal: Grandma and Granddad.

DFi calls his maternal side by the Finnish words for grandma and grandpa-- mummu and I can't spell the word for grandpa . His grandfather is from Finland and his great grandparents were from Finland as well. FMIL speaks fluent Finnish.

We're blessed to be called Nana & Pop Pop ~ I was early 40'ies when our first sweet DGS was born :goodvibes.

We're honored to be members of the Grandparent club 13x and still young enough to do lots of things with and enjoy them

I know what you mean. I'm the OP and as I was reading the part of my post that you highlighted, I noticed that I said I was 41. In actuality, I'm only 40. Not sure why I put 41 :confused3 but oh well.

I forgot to mention that my kids have 3 sets of grandparents (DH's parents are divorced/remarried) so it was always confusing when they were younger which one they were referring to. So, when they were really young, one of them had called my mother "kitty cat memere" because she was the only one with a cat. So calling my parents became "kitty cat memere/pepere". And they ended up calling DH's father/stepmom "race car memere/pepere" because at the time FIL owned a nice, new, red camaro. And for DH's mom/stepfather, they ended up calling them "haircut memere/pepere" because she's the one who used to give them haircuts. :rotfl: It worked back then but I really wish I would have thought of just calling them "Memere Jean" or "Pepere Dan". It really would have been much easier.

I'm a couple months older than you and my kids are 1 and 2. I've got a little bit before I become a grandfather.

I called my grandmother 'gramma'. My daughter calls her's 'Granmaw' and 'Pop Pop'.

Speaking of becoming a Grandma unexpectedly...:scared1:
Anyway, my dgd is almost 16 months old and speaks a little bit...my dh is called Pop (which she can say pretty well), and I am (going to be) Grammy. My mom and stepdad are/were Mimi and Pop-pop. Dh's mom/dad are/were GG (grandma last name that begins with G) and Pops. My bio dad/his wife are called Granpa Name and Gramma Name.

I called my maternal grandparents Grandmom and Grandpop and my paternal grandparents Grandma and Grandpa.

DS calls my parents Grandmom and Grandpop. I am not a fan of "cutesy" names for the grandparents. It is cute when they are kids but kind of odd when they are older. He calls DH's parents Nana and Pop Pop. I am not a big fan of that at all, but he is the 3rd grandchild on that side so it was easier just to refer to them the same as what my nieces call them.

Our Grandchildren call us Mo-Mo and Fay-Fay. Our 4th one is due any day now...:dance3:

My kids call my parents Grandma and Pa. They called my FIL Papa. They called my Grandparents Nanny and Poppy. I called both sets of Grandparents Grandma and Grandpa.

...because you are an old Grandmother and getting confused in your old age ;) Hey, I can say that to you whippersnappers of only 40, since I have almost half a decade on you!!!
