What is your geeky habits ?

OK well I freak out and scream with geekyness when ever I see a new pin in the gift shops at disneyland. And I also change out my signature like every other day, so I guess that makes me a computer/photoshop geek also...OH and if asked i can tell in less then one sentence that the portecinco(port wine) at DCA is like chocolate.

Well I'm a science fiction fan who writes fanfiction. And I regularly carry a small notebook and write down story ideas nearly everywhere I go.

I get all geeked out for old 40s, 50s, and 60s musicals. When AMC shows a marathon, my tush is planted. Oh, and I've been known to sing along. Loudly and off key.

I'm probably the definition of geekdom, and I have no problem with it at all.

Huge Sci-Fi fan ... especially 80s classics like TRON, Buckaroo Banzai Robocop etc. Much movie/TV love for all things Sam Raimi, John Carpenter, Joss Whedon, and Peter Jackson.

Been collecting comic books for years, and tend to be the go-to person at the bar when back history is needed for all the movie adaptations in recent years

Don't even get me started in my music love. Huge prog-rock / jazz fusion / progressive death metal fan.

Oh, and I'm also a nut for craft beer, and proabably tasted 100s over the years and visited tons of micro-breweries

That way I look at it ... life is too short to be boring or fit into someone's preconceived notion of what 'cool' should be. Just be yourself and enjoy what you like :thumbsup2

Geeky traits?! Wow. I could do a whole list! :rotfl: But I think I'll start off with the biggest one. Nothing beats a good night of gaming with the guys on a Friday night..................................

D&D Gaming that is!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:

I don't know if anything else will top that. With it being late, this will be a sample. I've got a WHOLE lot more to pick and choose from...but where to start....:surfweb:

I don't consider I have geeky habits but my friends would disagree. As I begin to think about it I realize my geeky habits are too long to list.

I have a question, does hanging around the Disboards count as a geeky habit?

Probably.

Well, time to elaborate on a few of my own traits. This list is by no means conclusive as I'll probably add more to this much later.

-Avid player of Dungeons and Dragons (14th level Paladin with an awesome holy avenger sword)
-I used to watch G4 during the twilight of TechTV. Back when there was awesome shows on before all this sub-par Spike TV junk they're showing now.
-When saying "The first three Star Wars films," you BETTER be referring to the first trilogy and not the embarrassing prequels that were destroyed by Hayden Christensen.
-Avid gamer (own a Wii for my retro Nintendo fix, PS3 [can you say Disney Blu-Ray?], and Xbox 360 for my main gaming)
-Sadly, still awkward around women. :guilty:
-I get more excited by the newest and latest tech from CES than I do about athletics :happytv:
-k4n j00 R34d th12? I c4n! :)

Those were some of the basics, the miscellany include:

-Avid supercar fan (Lamborghini, Ford GT, Koenigsegg, etc.)
-Will faithfully and proudly defend the Rock Band music series. Guitar Zero? Nope, not me.
-And (I gotta throw some Disney here) I will geek out on most Disney films, especially the pre-3D animated films.

Those are just a few, I'm willing to get into some nice debating on this. ;)

I dare you!!

OooooOooo a challenge! I love it!!! :lmao:

I am a huge musical buff too, altho i do not like the movie versions - they totally ruin the experience. I am a HUUUUGE Broadway buff (Studied Music Theatre & Dance since i could walk) and am usually found randomly bursting into song... but never off-key :goodvibes

Yep, and ALL of us are guilty of that one :lmao: Granted, most people in my life have never been to Disney and think that my vacation planning obsessions are geeky, I think they just have NO idea :lmao:

Recovering geek. Terminal dork.

Last Mountain Dew was 10 years ago. No time for video games, but still into scifi. Will read about quantum theory because it's interesting. Can geek out about running upon request. Still capable of awful puns requiring the obligatory head shake.

Super power: Sarcasm++

And that's why, for you, it's not geeky. :thumbsup2

I used to work at TechTV! That was a fun time. Stupid G4.

Holy crap! You're kidding! It's been years since I ever actually had my television cemented on that channel. Correct me if I'm wrong, didn't Viacom buy out TechTV and eventually started to run programming with the mindset of "Hey, their audience will like this stuff?" Because, when they removed all of the good shows that were centered around gaming and hi-tech, that's when I didn't mourn Comcast's decision to remove it from the basic cable lineup. :lmao:

BTW, quite the envious nerd here in that you worked there for awhile. :)

KEITH!!!!!!!! Welcome back!!!!!!!!! Guess you finally got the internet hooked up at your new place?! Yay!!!! :woohoo:

I did! But I'm not home. I'm pretty much never home between 5:30a and 9p. I'm at school on the DIS instead of studying. :p

Yeah, I remember all the big brother crap we had to deal with towards the end. I guess I should clarify, I didn't collect a paycheck from them, I was an intern. But we worked harder than most of the "actual" employees! The show I worked on was called "Unscrewed with Martin Sargent." Did you ever watch that one?

Those were good times. We even had our own Street Fighter II arcade game in the lobby. :P

Haha... and you are deff not studying if you are texting on your phone. Haha. ;) Get back to studying!!!!! Dis will be here when you get back!

Altho, I dont mind the procrastination if it means you are spending your time entertaining me ;)

Ok I wasn't gonna add to the geekyness but since we're all sharing.....
*sigh* when I was in high school I was the biggest music geek around. I was in band, theatre and every choir I was allowed to be in....why is this important to today's current question you may ask....
well I get like super excited about half time shows that marching bands are involved in. If I'm home the first weekend in August I watch the DCI competition (that's drum corps international) and judge each band as if I were on the field.
as for theatre and choir, I still sing and if it wasn't for my job requiring me to be on call 24/7 I would still do theatre...I was even voted most musical in HS....
so there you have it...my geek side has been shared....let the laughter begin...

Interns are never fully appreciated. If only the talking heads and mouth-pieces only realized the hard work they do to make them look good. As for Martin Sargent, I'm afraid that my cable company finally decided to add TechTV as it was turning into G4, so I may have missed out. It was good for a little while, until I heard about and did a little research on what shows were on. Yeah, I was totally ripped off.

Man, if we had at least a Pac-Man arcade game in our customer lounge, I knew where I'd be spending my lunch breaks. :rotfl:
