What is your favourite film and why

thats a tough question, its really a toss-up on my favorite..

either:

Plan 9 From outer space

or

Manos, hands of fate

both explore the pathos of human existence when compared to the futility of striving for a perfect society.

my top few are eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, the wizard of oz, children shouldn't play with dead things, the princess bride.

Altho I am not a Sandra Bullock fan nor agree with Ashley Judds political views

Divine secrets of the YaYa sisterhood

The Lion King. The story, the music, the characters. They are just so amazing. Plus, I love animals and I have this facination for Africa.

Wizard of oz
Death at a funeral (hilarious)
Magnificient seven
All about Eve.

The last movie I saw that I thought was excellent was "The reader" with Kate Winslet.

I love the Bourne movies. There is just something about a nice looking man that can kick butt!

Gone With the Wind- love the romance in it
The Proposal- same as above and Ryan Reynolds is shirtless
Shawshank Redemption- it's just sooo good
Clueless- uhh.. does that count as a film- LOL- funny
and don't laugh at this one.... Grease 2- love that movie!!!! I like the music in it

The Color Purple.
It makes me cry, it makes me laugh, and I love the music in it. It just makes me feel good.

Not sure if I could pick a favorite, but top favorites would definitely include Sleepers, Almost Famous, Mean Girls, and Dazed and Confused.

"Ghost" and "Poltergeist" also...Dirty Dancing, and most recently.......don't laugh...."Lars and the REAL Girl"....awesome movie!:thumbsup2

Being a 23 year old female...I have an odd list of favorite movies:
*Flesh and the Devil --A silent movie with Greta Garbo. The whole movie is filled with emotion.
*Queen Christina -- My favorite Garbo talkie. Love her and John Gilbert's chemistry. Its amazing.
*Pride and Prejudice --Each one! Greer Garson & Laurence Olivier/ Jennifer Euhle & Colin Firth/ Keira Knightley & Matthew McFadyen
*The Little Mermaid -- My Favorite Disney movie...still know the whole movie word for word!:lovestruc

Mine is Grease, why - it was the first movie my mom took me too as a kid (7 or 8 - clearly I didn't really get it at that age) and to this day, I love John Travolta

I wish I could say some wonderful cinematic masterpiece but ahhhh not really

I can whittle my favorites down to five (today at least :) ):

Steel Magnolias because of the humor and love in the movie
Fiddler on the Roof because of the music and Tevye
The Philadelphia Story because it's this week's favorite Cary Grant movie
Halloween because I'm a horror movie buff & this one is the best (The original version of The Haunting comes close though.)
Star Wars because it's just plain good fun

Inconcievable!!

Anywhoo, we love movies in this house. If I had to pick one

To Kill a Mockingbird. Music score, acting, story, Atticus Finch.....stop me!

If I could pick more

Bella
Princess Bride
12 Angry Men
On the Waterfront
Steel Magnolias (although I am not a fan of Julia Roberts)
Finding Neverland
Best in Show
Shawshank Redemption

And a new favorite: The Dish http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0205873/
