Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier, Grand Californian, DTD? What is your favorite Disney dining experience out of the parks?

The one I loved to go to when we went to Disneyland was Las Costillas (sp) in Huntington Beach but when I was there in December is was no longer there. Well the building was but the name was changed along with the "type" of restaurant. Any locals know what happened to it?? I grew up in Garden Grove and we went there every few weeks or so. I was so sad to see it gone in December. It was always the night of arrivals dinner and usually the night before we would leaves too.

My favorite place outside the parks is the Rainforest Cafe, in DTD. I haven't had a chance to try many of the other places yet, though. Oh, and I love going to that one place in DTD where you can get beignets- love those! I can't recall the name for some reason- something like the Jazz Market Cafe. I don't know if that's the correct name, but I'm positive the word "Jazz" was in there somewhere, lol.

This is going to sound funny, but we have always had good food and great service at the Denny's across the street. We often end up there at the end of the night for ice cream, rather than waiting in line in Disney. The prices are a bit higher on some things, but still a good value. We have also had good meals at IHOP. I would skip Millies and Mom's!

We prefer the Rainforest Cafe in South Coast Plaza. We ate at the one in Downtown Disney in March and the service was horrible (as was the manager we were told to complain to). My husband doesn't want to set foot in another one ever again!

We never miss a meal at Knott's Berry Farm. Either the chicken dinner, or Sunday buffet, though the buffet wasn't as good as usual this trip.

We tried Marie Callender's on Euclid and was pleased. We were there for the lunch rush, and had good service and good food.

Oh! Try the hotel restaurants as well. Goofy's Kitchen was wonderful. Alot better than I remembered. I would recommend it for brunch.

When we were at DL years ago my DH took us to Tony Romas (across the street from DL) and we loved that experience. I tease my DH that he has to take me to DL to go to Tony Romas and Tony Romas is here in Tucson AZ.

Acapulco Restaurant across from the Howard Johnsons. I also like what used to be Shipyard Inn at DL Hotel, not sure if the current restaurant has the same menu items.

Tony Roma's is "barbecue."

Cool places in Buena Park (Beach Blvd off 91 fwy):

Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner Restraunt

Claim Jumper

Spoons

I have seen good comments about Left at Albuquerque at the Block at Orange (huge Mills shopping/entertainment center).

The nearest Krispy Kreme is also located at the Block at Orange, approximately 3.5 miles from DLR.

Isn't Roma's ribs, rather than barbeque? It's been awhile since I've eaten there, but I live in Texas, and I don't recall that Roma's had what we would consider "barbeque."

Okay. I don't know why... I think it is nostalgia and tradition. The food is good but not spectacular. I almost always have to have a meal at the Jolly Roger Coffee Shop. I have never stayed at the motel but we have been eating there for 25 years or so!

Tony Romas is barbaque ribs and steaks and french fried onion rings to die for (etc). I love that place.

YUM....I love Claim Jumper too!

I also like the Bucca Di Bepo and Red Robin on Harbor.

There was also a delicious pizza place that used to deliver to Santa Ana Hotel Terrace area called BJ's or AJ's...they had really good pizza, we used to get one delivered on each trip. Haven't stayed in the Hotel terrace area in a while so I don't know if they are there anymore?

Tony Romas is a tradition for us to do on our first night. We love it there, and by the way if any of you venture to WDW there is one down the way from that shopping center across from DTD.

we are going in September and will probably eat one night at Tony Roma's - they serve great baby back ribs here in Tampa - Has anyone tried the Tangerine Grill in a hotel just south and across the street from DCA?

I just wanted to say that I too have always had good meals and service at the Denny's across the street. Ordinarily, I stay away from Denny's. The Denny's where I live is horrible. But for some reason the one by DL is really good. We also like Tony Romas and Olive Garden. I can't remember exactly where Olive Garden is but it's in Orange and it wasn't very hard to find. Where is Red Robin? How far is it from DL?

Melissa -

Red Robin is down on Harbor across from the Target near the new hotels they are building. It is on the same side of the street as DL. I don't think its within walking distance but the drive was only about 5 minutes long and worth it...YUM I love their shakes and the "clucks and fries" (chicken strips with french fries) :D

Thanks Peter Pan Fan! I love the Whiskey River Chicken Burger-at least that's what I think it's called. We don't have one near us so I haven't eaten at one in years. There is also a drink they have that I really like-I think it's called an electric watermelon. Anyways, thanks for the info! I would like to eat there when we go to DL next week but we won't have a car. Oh well, maybe next time!

Oh man, this thread is making me hungry ;)

Millie's isn't too bad if you go for breakfast. I went there last time for dinner, had spaghetti, and it was horrible. Denny's is cheaper and better.

Knotts' Chicken place is a must go. My family went there everytime we went to DL ever since I was little, and when I can't go there, I miss it.

I'm with Zimbubba!!! In N Out Burger!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
