What is your favorite restaurant for a Sub?

The best is a little local place whose sign simply says "Subs". I don't know if that's actually their name or just a description of the type of restaurant it is. :confused3

As far as chains (although not a big chain), I love Togo's. I don't care for Subway. I hate the way they slice their bread, with that skinny little strip on top and a humongous thing on the bottom. Combine that with skimpy meat and cheese, and to me, the sandwich is all bread and I can hardly taste the good stuff.

I love Jason's Deli but I've never had a sub there, I usually get a baked potato, frito pie or soup and salad bar there.

Oh, and Schlotsky's Deli! How could I almost forget Schlotsky's?! I love their sandwiches, although I wouldn't really call them subs, because of the shape of the bread.

If your ever visiting in Grand Rapids, Mich. we think the best sub is at a place called Vitale's...we always go to the Leonard St. location.

Jersey Mike's. But Penn Station is a close second (LOVE their hot Chicken Teriyaki sub) and they have the BEST homemade lemonade!

I still like my local pizza and grinder shops the best, but I like all of the chains for a change.

The Sub guy at work is addicted to Jimmy Johns.

No favorite for me. Like them all except for Subway and Blimpie (lot of their stores are closed).

Growing up in Michigan, I loved the grinders from Mancinos. Later I lived in Southern California and fell in love with Best of Philly (DH is from Philly, so we were pretty much regulars). Now I live in Virginia. I can't find anything around here as good as the other two, but the best we have it probably Pot Bellys. I like the turkey & swiss.

When we lived in CA we went to a place in Glendale called Mario's that was so yummy!!!! :cloud9:
Now we go to Quiznos. Not alot of choices around here.

Subway is terrible, but I eat it fairly often. That's just because it's everywhere and fast.

I love Jersey Mike's, it's by far the best chain. We do have a Jason's Deli here, but there is just too much damn meat on the sandwiches, you feel gross after eating there.

Quizno's isn't bad, but it's not as good as Mike's.

Jersey Mike's must be pretty good. Seems to be popular on this thread. Too bad we don't have one in Michigan???

Another vote for Quizno's. They are gourmet subs. I also love the grinders at Bellacinos!

i really like RUDYS , i think its a local chain...capacola and cheese....yum!

Jersey Mike's steak and cheese Mike's way mmmmmmm :thumbsup2

To me chain restaurants like Subway or Quiznos are not "real" sub shops. We have a couple of places here that are really good. Scittino's is great, and my DH likes Sorrento's.

We have a couple of regional sub places here-Goodcents and Planet Sub. They are better than Subway or Quizno's, but still not as good as the local places. :)
