We have stayed at Beach Club, Poly, AKL, Wilderness Lodge, SSR, and All-Star Sports. We liked them all for different reasons. I think my favorite may have been AKL. The atmosphere is elegant and warm, and the food options there are great. However, as far as my kids are concerned, the pool is slightly lacking compared to the Beach Club (SAB) or even the Poly (volcano slide). My husband loved SSR because we got to try a 1-bedroom. Let me say it's hard to go back to a hotel room after that experience! He also enjoyed being able to walk to DTD. Wilderness Lodge was fun too, just no immediate urge to repeat it. (Our room was along the water side, and the darn boat horns kept us up at night!)
Overall, however, the Beach Club wins it for me because of the proximity to Epcot and, of course, SAB. It feels vibrant and fun, and I love being close enough to walk to Epcot (and boat to DHS, my DS7's favorite). I will say the only downside of the resort for me is the food -- I just don't think there are enough convenient options @ the BC itself, but we stroll over to the Boardwalk for meals if need be. I think BC will be our next stay!
P.S. We are definitely deluxers, but my kids loved the arcade at Sports!
