who's got their favorite restaurants that are off-site that they want to share? how about general location, pricing, type of food?

we're staying off-site at orange lakes cc in a few weeks. interested in hearing suggestions!

I just posted on another topic but Jungle Jims is great. IT is by Goodies and TGIFridays. IT has huge hamburgers and the HUngry hippo burger is great! It has ham and special sauce and a huge burger and great other stuff. This was so big it was hard to get your mouth open big enough to get a bite!
I think it was $7.00 and came with curly spice fries. There is a coupon on their site for a free appetizer with two entrees. We couldn't even eat all the appetizer. The kids meals were 4, I thin and were BIG portions too. My family of five ate for $31.00 but we did not order pop but the kids meals came with drinks!

For a bargain, I like Sweet Tomatoes on International Lane and Kirkman. It's a salad bar buffet with hot food like soup, baked potatos and pastas. Make sure to pick up any of the coupon books for a coupon ... it'll save you about $2 on your meal. Total price per person is less than $10 and it's all you can eat :).

The best value we've found has been Cattleman's Steakhouse, on Rt. 535, near 192. For the money, you can't beat their prime rib. They always seem to have coupons in the local tourist magazines for a $9.95 Prime Rib dinner special, and also have daily early bird specials. For the money, it's tough to beat!

Orange Lake is lovely, I'm sure you'll have a great time!

At the holiday Inn Nikki Bird there's Angel's, a buffet with lobster and prime rib for $20 I think. Pretty good quality, we had no complaints. It's on 192, last right before the Disney onramp.

I personally favor Cafe Tu Tu Tango (click it!) on International Drive. The portions are appetizer sized (and priced), and meant to be shared. Our party of three ordered four items and there was plenty to go around. Unusual combinations done very well. Instead of rolls while you wait, they bring selections of hummus and a few different flatbreads on a palette. There is art everywhere, and artist stations throughout the restaurant where local artists create throughout the day. Everything you see is for sale. We went during dinner hour once and were treated to a roaming magician who thrilled 4yo DD, and flamenco dancers (? the ones with castanets). There was a fella in the front of the restaurant doing amazing sci-fi looking things with spray paint and various circles. To keep the kids busy they offer paint-with-water pages.

the food and atmosphere are definitely unique.

Charlys steak house on South Orange blosson trail,(up past Sand Lake Rd)
there are tourist versions on the 192 and I drive (with tourist prices !!)
22oz Filet or 32oz porterhouse, AYCE sald and onion soup $25. The $12 burger (1 pound) is made of real meat, non of this minced red stuff here.

Stop in the carpark and look in at the kitchen and meat aging rooms.

Our favourite for 20yrs now, and originally suggested by a cab driver when I asked where would he go ?

And it's close to WDW, too. Pebbles is a lovely modern restaurant on a small lake in the Crossroads Shopping Center in Lake Buena Vista by I-4.

The food is sophisticated new-American cooking and extremely reasonable for the quality. Try the Chicken Vesuvio pasta dish -- absolutely sublime! Great appetizers and desserts, too.

As you head toward OLCC, there is a shopping center on the left side which has a supermarket, TGI Fridays etc. There is an italian restaurant there called Giordano's. Good food, reasonable prices. Wego there every year when we stay at Westgate.

I tend to recomend this one for my UK collegues as a way of looking at a slightly less touristy side of Kisimmee.

FatBoysBarbeque

On the 192, right side towards Kissime town.
All you can eat BBQ chicken, ribs, ham, sliced beef and pork, garlic bread, fries, coleslaw and the best BEENZ in town for around $9.

Seating is homesyle on benches or smaller booths, and they just keep bringing you what ever you want out.

Usual salad bar etc and other non all you can eat options.

The BEENZ are to die for , flavoured with all the meats, we also take a gallon away with us for our own BBQ.

Draught beer comes in well toothed plastic mugs.
Shuts by 9.30pm, is a firm favourite for locals but we as tourists have always found a friendly welcome, by wait staff who have personality and have obviously seen a bit of real life!

WOW thanks Robin for the Beenz recipe, though I somehow don't think I'll be able to make them quite as good as the real thing!! but as it is BBQ season and in the UK we can actually see the sun this week !!! I'll have a go.

My next fix of fatboys Beenz will be newyears eve when were having a BBQ at our Orlando home.

Bahama Breeze! I can't remember where it is exactly, but it has great Carribbean style food. Sometimes there is a steel drum band that plays there too. Enjoy!

Thai Orchid - on Int'l Drive up toward Universal

Hanamizuki - authentic Japanese on Int'l Drive

Ming Palace - good Chinese on Int'l Drive

Pebbles - Crossroads Shopping Center

We tend to venture off premise alot. More variety.

I love going to this florida chain: the Ale House! There is one right off WDW property. Don't know the exact roads, but it's on Apopka-Vineland, right behind the 7-11 on the left. Great great drink specials, great food (the chicken nachos are the best...serves at least 4!), and an all around great time. The chicken nachos are considered an appetizer, but for 2, it's a meal in itself, with some to take home! It does serve at least 4, and it will fill all 4 of the people up! Like I said, great drink specials, too. I highly recommend it....but not for young kids..at least teenagers and up.
