We'll be spending a couple weeks in Orlando next month... the first week at BWV and the second off site (OLCC).

Frankly, we get sick of eating at the same three or four places when we stay off site. I need some help spicing things up. Doesn't necessarily need to be fine dining (though we like those, too)... heck, even a good deli or pizza place would be great.

Any favorites?

Our favs are casual - Orlando Ale House, Girordanos for pizza and Sweet Tomatoes (up by the outlets & Universal on International Drive). You can also find any chain imaginable in LBV or Kissimmee.:thumbsup2

Those are good. Giordano's is a must every trip. I'd add Texas De Brazil (better be really hungry for meat!), Chic-Fil-A (a chain but reasonable and a great chicken sandwich), Bahama Breeze, Magianno's and Charlie's Steak House for upscale (but don't plan on Charlie's & Texas De Brazil - too much of a good thing in one trip).

Bahama Breeze!! :) or (I don't think this counts?) The Rainforest Cafe in Downtown Disney.

We had an extraordinary sunday brunch at the Ritz Carlton

I agree with the multiple votes for Bahama Breeze. That's been our top off-site restaurant on our current trip (we were there Friday and, while it was very busy, our wait wasn't too long) as the service and the food were very good.

We also enjoyed Landry's Seafood which is across Vineland from Bahama Breeze. The previous poster reminded me of the Town Tavern. We've enjoyed that restaurant in the past and we'll make a trip to Celebration to take in that one before this week ends.

We've also really liked Straub's Seafood but that a bit more off-site than these others (above downtown Orlando on East Colonial Drive) but well worth the drive.

Can anyone provide the link to the best off site restaurants thread? There was a great list on the first page....(I think)

I agree - Sweet Tomatoes, Carrabba's and Giordano's have great food! Btw, there is a Carrabba's located off Kirkman Rd. (up by Universal). I'd definitely say it's the best of the locations in Orlando imo. Bubbalou's Bodacious BBQ is also really good. It's off Conroy Rd. near Universal. Flipper's Pizzeria also has really good pizza.

Here are a few older threads that talk about offsite restaurants as well:

TuTu Tango just a few doors down from Bahama Breeze on I-Drive.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the input. I'll throw in one of our personal favorites... Cheesecake Factory!

If you're in the mood for some real good BBQ than I highly recommend Smokey Bones. (on I92) My family and I stumbbled onto this place last year and it was a real treat, we can't wait to go back again this May.

Boston Lobster Feast is awesome if you like seafood. ::yes:: The I-Drive location is my favorite.

Well I am constantly looking for good places to eat outside of the park area and have found a few.

Best cheap burger - Five Guys

An import from the northeast, this place is great. Very simple menu and the burgers are made to order (never frozen beef). It is dressed to order with everything from the basics to stuff like grilled mushrooms, jalapeno's, BBQ sauce, etc. Very casual place.

Still need to eat at - the Fillin Station, BackYard Burgers

Best place to watch a game - The Orlando Ale House

Cheap, decent food and relatively cheap drinks (can get a pitcher for 5 bucks - considering Orlando, thats great). For appetizers, the cheese fries and zingers are winners. But the Chicken Nachos are the story here. Order these for no less than 4 people because it is huge. The bistro burger is great. TVs all over the place but they are not obnoxiously intrusive like Buffalo Wild Wing's can be.

Best Mexican - Garibaldi Mexican Rest

Relatively authentic (as real as your gonna get in the chain restaurant capital of the world). Located off Sand Lake Blvd by the Florida Mall. Closest thing I have found in Orlando to the stuff you can get in the Southwest.

Best Pizza - Giordano's

Good Orlando pizza - a true oxymoron. Orlando just does not do pizza well. When I would rather stay home with DiGiorno's, that should say something. Having said that, I liked this place - though it was pricey (for someone who likes to eat frugally). The deep dish pizza is a different style though and incredibly rich. Even the hungriest individuals may only be able to handle 2-3 slices.

Still need to eat at - American Pie Pizza Company (have heard really good things but it is out of the way).

Best Homecookin - Mimi's Cafe

I did not want to go here for some time but finally broke down cuz the person I was with wanted to go. And I found my fav dish of all time - Chicken Fried Steak. And it was the best one I have found in Orlando. So this gets high marks from me. Better than Cracker Barrel IMO.

Best Italian - still lookin

Have not been to Antonio's yet and that seems to be the local's choice. Also really want to try Il Pescatore, a small family run italian rest in mid Orlando.

Other notables -

Cafe TuTu Tango (I-Drive) - an interesting 'starving artist' type of place. The decor and atmosphere are great and the service is casual. Can get very busy as it is very popular. All of the dishes are appetizers and meant to be shared among the group. This is not the place to go if you are hungry as it does not really fill you up and can get a bit expensive.

Bahama Breeze (536) - decent chain. Went there for lunch and had the Quesadilla w/soup. The seafood chowder was excellent in a clam chowder kind of way (though I think it had shrimp and scallops). Overall good.

Macaroni Grill (536) - For an italian chain rest, it gets high marks from me. I love their lasagna.

Mmmmm... I eat out too much. However, if yall have more suggestions, let me know. I would love to check them out. I will definitely have to try out Bubbalou's soon.

P.S. Though this is technically on property, if you have not had the ribs from the House of Blues, you owe yourself to check them out.

We always eat at Chevy's Mexican restaurant one night. Last trip we stumbled on the Orlando Ale House and were pleasantly surprised! We had great service, really good food, and a very reasonable bill! 4 adults and 4 kids ate for under $100--including tip!

Cafe tu tu tango. Lots of fun. Tapas food. Artists working on things while you dine. Tango dancers- They had some guy walking around making ballons "art" for kids. It was crazy never ever would i have imagined someone could do something like that. Very entertaining.
